Anybody going to take LPN boards?

I was just wondering if anyone in an ADN/BSN program was going to take LPN boards after the first year. I have heard that it is possible and that it is a good way to get experience... both with testing and with working as a nurse. Anybody out there done this? Tell me what it's like... THANKS!!

I guess nobody has thought of this... :confused:

I plan to do so. We can not take the LPN boards until after our third semester--so i'll be eligible at the end of this calendar year. I figure it's practice at the NCLEX format and I'd like to camp nurse right out of fourth semester--I think it may be easier to get hired as a camp nurse with the LPN as well as the GN

I am just starting my ADN nursing classes in August. I am definitely considering taking the LPN boards when the time comes. I will wait and see, though. It will depend on how stressed out I feel and whether or not I want to pay the fees. Sounds like an excellent idea for those who are motivated to do so.

In PA students can work as grad PN's up to one year or until they take the boards. I plan to be finished the RN portion within a year.

I just finished my first year of 2 in an ADN program. I took my LPN boards last month and Passed :)

I was eligible to take the LPN boards after my 2nd semester ended in Dec 2003. I waited until after 3rd semester finished to take it (May '04) since my CC doesn't hold nsg classes during the summer months and I don't work while I'm attending classes. I found a summer job in home health nsg that is working out perfect for me. The experience of taking the exam and the experience of working have been worth it, IMO, even though I'll be taking the RN exam in a few months.

Our program requires us to sit for the LPN boards after the first three semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer) and pass before we can start the second year RN level.

I am getting ready to take my boards sometime in August. Unfortunately by the time I take it I will already be in school;therefore, I will be studying for both my PN NCLEX and for my Med & Surg class. I only have 10 more months to go and then I take the RN NCLEX. I did this because if something happens and I don't make it on this year I have something to fall back on until I can get in again next year. My advice take it if you can it will be well worth it!!

Is this without taking the NCLEX PN??? Could you give me any more details?? Ive asked some of my fellow students and noone knows/heard of this
