Anybody applying to Csueb nursing program this year for the fall of 2018?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to get a possible study group going for the Hesi Teas exam. I will be taking mine this December(2017), but if anyone else in the bay area wants to start studying together that would be much appreciated! I have yet to study for it. I have one pre req left this fall (intro to micro). If your also applying to Csueb for the following year it will be great to meet some of you pre nursing students before hand :) , I am also a recently honorably discharged veteran who is new to the bay area! I may apply to deanza nursing program as well if anyone else is in that area as well. if anyone is down to meet at a coffee shop or school comment down below .

Specializes in IIC.

Congrats to everyone that got admitted into the Cal state east bay nursing program!

I got my acceptance letter a couple days ago as well and will be attending! I hope to meet my cohort soon.

I am very impressed with all your stats.

My GPA is 3.8 and teas 81. I received points for working as a CNA in a hospital. Acute care experience has been super helpful and I have already learned so much from the nurses there. I also received points for Spanish proficiency. I went to a professor at a university and she verified my proficiency and fluency in Spanish and wrote me a letter on a letterhead. As you can see, my TEAS was very low so if you have low TEAS, get healthcare experience and boost your chances! It is not about grades, they look for well rounded individuals.

Good luck to those waitlisted!

CSUEB is starting to reach out to those on the waitlist! I just got offered a spot! Woo hoo! Good luck to those still waiting and I hope you don't wait long! It is torture!

Hello everyone! I also received an email from the nursing department offering me a spot for the program. I am so excited and happy! :)

To those on the waitlist, good luck y'all! I hope that you get in as well.

Can everyone post their stats please for future applicants! And then mention if you got in, waitlist or rejected. Thank you all so much!

offered a spot this past Friday

Before I was offered a spot I had a review of my application with the nursing department and I'd like to share the information.

There were 897 qualified applications. They accepted 64 people. That's a 7.1% acceptance rate. (So, this is effectively more like a lottery).

Most applicants offered admission had a minimum of 3.6 GPA, 80% TEAS AND one other optional point category. I've been to an information session and they stress this point a lot. If you have a 4.0 GPA and 90+ TEAS and nothing else, don't expect to get in.

My area of improvement was in the paid/volunteer health-related experience. They said I would've earned more points if I had over 450 hours (I only had 200). And my patient care was considered indirect, rather than direct (I was a volunteer in a hospital), so I only earned partial points here, too.

They told me there was very little room for improvement in my application and that only a very, very (yes, they used two verys for emphasis) small amount of points separating those who got in from those who got waitlisted and even from those who got denied. Again, proving my point earlier about this process coming down to a lottery-style process.

Oh, and they also said they used their tiebreak categories extensively.

You are welcome! And good luck, everyone!

A big unknown is what each applicant scored on their personal statement. Anybody know if they were able to find out their individual score for the personal statement?

Regarding the personal statement points, I remember them saying at the information session that they were going to add up all the other points first and not include personal statement points. They would then use the personal statement points if needed. So, it sounds like the personal statements made the most difference to borderline applicants, such as myself! Not positive but this is what I remember...
