Hi,
I just wondered if there were any others out there at a similar stage to me.
I've passed the CGFNS & have my visa screen certificate (though think it may expire before i get to use it). I sat & failed the NCLEX earlier this month so plan to re-sit around June.
My main concern at the moment is i was given wrong information re: which visa to apply for & only learned recently thanks to this site that i need to apply for a green card. I'm now not sure which step to take next. It seems like a long wait for a green card but this is something i really want to do so i think i'll carry on with the application and just bide my time.
It would be great to have someone else to compare notes with, so if anyone's in a similar situation i'd love to hear from you :typing
Thanks, Karen
i i have contacted the nmc and have been told that they could possibly help but have yet to speak to the right department.quote]
the nmc can provide you with an eu directive of rgn specifications, this lists all the hours for each speciality that a nurse on part 1 of the register is expected to have completed in their training. i got them to send me a copy of what they sent to cgfns which was really lucky as i dont think cgfns sent this on to the board of nursing:no: so i had to send on all my stuff as my cgfns report said i was equiv to a us rn but couldn't confirm training hours, my case was presented to the board yesterday and approved:clpty:which is brilliant after 14 months of
just keep phoning nmc & cgfns

Hi Karen,
Sorry you failed the nclex but i like your determination.
I am also a UK nurse/midwife for the past eight years and desperate to live the UK for the US:banghead:, i took the nclex last August with the California board of nursing and passed, but the won't give me my license, until i give them my social security number, and for me to have that, i need a job, for me to have a job, i need a green card
i really thought i would have been out of here by now according to the information i had from the agency, to my dismay:no: i heard about the retrogression, meaning it will take over 2-3yrs before i might get a green card. I am so disappointed that i don't know what to do:cry:, i so badly want to go. I have not started anything as yet, as i have to sign a contract with one of the agency i have decided to go with, but the contract is such that when the start the process and i decide to pull out for any reason, they can sue me for up to $20,000,which i am very scared of, what if the green card takes 3yrs to come through, should i put my life on hold for them?
It is such that i have started the process of going to Canada instead, which i hear is a lovely Country and a nice place to bring children up, i am waiting to hear from them.:redbeathe

Please be very careful before signing with any agency and thoroughly do your homework on them. There has been already much written here, suggest that you take the time and do some significant reading first, or you can be costing yourself literally thousands of dollars to get out of a contract later on, and I mean significant thousands.
