Any other UIC GEP applicants here?

Published

I just applied to the GEP at UIC, for Family NP. I'm so nervous! I guess applicants find out by the end of March if they will be invited for interviews or not, so I'm crossing my fingers. Is anyone else in the boat with me?

I'm also kind of just curious what background other applicants have, as I'm sure it's pretty diverse. I have a background in clinical research at Mayo, Rush, and Northwestern and a B.S. in psych.

Also curious if anyone mentioned interest in eventually getting a Ph.D? I saw on an older thread that someone was passed over b/c they mentioned interest in a Ph.D, however I talked to two nurses who are involved with teaching at UIC and they said they are very open about individuals who are interested in Ph.D as long as it is not their only goal. One faculty member said they were very excited about her interest in getting a Ph.D. So I guess I don't understand why someone would get passed over for mentioning their interest in Ph.D?

Did anyone else apply? Or if anyone has feedback on UIC's program or admissions process, that would be great too!

I was told 45 minutes......

does anyone know how long the interview day is at UIC?

I am interviewing for Family NP on April 16th. The email says 1:00-3:30, but I think the person meant to say 2:30 because the interview time was allotted as follows: Two 30-minute information sessions; one information session on the GEP program and one information session on the Family NP program. This will be followed by a 30 minute individual interview. So that makes 1.5 hours, not 2.5.

I am curious as to why they have information sessions? you would think that applying to the school, they would assume that you researched the information about that school. Unless "information session" is another phrase for "group interview"? But I would think not...

Oh I am so nervous!

On a side note to any ladies applying.... what are you going to wear???

hmmm.....should I be worried that I have heard nothing about an info session?? I was only told to be at the college of nursing at 11:00 am to interview with someone and that person's name.....

I think I'm gonna wear a suit...mind you , I don't currently own one, so I dunno what color yet ;)

We are applying to different programs, so I would not be worried about info sessions. I am going to wear a suit, but I cannot decide... pant suit or skirt suit? And I don't want to wear black, which would be the pant suit. So I guess I kinda decided for myself? Been kinda cold lately though!

My interview is tomorrow. Im really scared. Wish me luck!

I know my at my interview they said my dept. ( Maternal Child Nursing) will decide this Friday, May 2nd and then pass those names along to the Graduate school. Basically I'm expecting to hear back from anytime mid-next week to the 15th.

It would be really fricking nice If I knew before next wednesday. I'm currently in school and taking pre-reqs. I could go to my A&P Final with a smile if I knew for sure.
