Any other UIC GEP applicants here?

Published

I just applied to the GEP at UIC, for Family NP. I'm so nervous! I guess applicants find out by the end of March if they will be invited for interviews or not, so I'm crossing my fingers. Is anyone else in the boat with me?

I'm also kind of just curious what background other applicants have, as I'm sure it's pretty diverse. I have a background in clinical research at Mayo, Rush, and Northwestern and a B.S. in psych.

Also curious if anyone mentioned interest in eventually getting a Ph.D? I saw on an older thread that someone was passed over b/c they mentioned interest in a Ph.D, however I talked to two nurses who are involved with teaching at UIC and they said they are very open about individuals who are interested in Ph.D as long as it is not their only goal. One faculty member said they were very excited about her interest in getting a Ph.D. So I guess I don't understand why someone would get passed over for mentioning their interest in Ph.D?

Did anyone else apply? Or if anyone has feedback on UIC's program or admissions process, that would be great too!

GAH! I'm in the same boat as you! Is the suspense killing you yet? It is for me! My poor husband has just about had it with me...

I applied for Maternal Child Nursing( Midwifery)

Background, hmmmmm....B.A in Women's Studies, experience in social services case management ( not a social worker though) Currently in an ADN program for nursing, basically my backup in case UIC doesn't work out so I can at LEAST be eligible to be and RN by December 2009 or so, although my real focus is to be a certified nurse-midwife.

I really REALLY want to get in, but I kind of just wanna know too, so I can plan out my schedule for next year, and husband can figure out whether or not he should apply for jobs here or in Chicago ( he finishes Grad school in May)

Nope, did not mention anything about a PhD so I have no insight on that....

So basically, yup, defintiely someone else on here also on edge.....Ugh, End of March interview calls and all...I don't think I've wanted a time to come quickly so badly while at the same time dreaded it coming in case I don't get called for an interview..:uhoh21:

Nice to know there is someone else in the boat with me :yeah: Although I applied for Family NP, so we are in different sections of the boat ;)

My hubby is in Iraq right now so I can't drive him crazy, although if he were he'd probably feel the same as your hubby!

I wish I could fast forward time too! I really want to get in, and a lot is riding on this, just as it is for you. It will determine whether or not my husband will re-enlist, when we have another baby, when we move (because I really can't take these Chicago winters!!!), when we can finally buy a house.... so on and so forth!

Good luck to you!

Hey good luck to you too! your situation sounds even more stressful then mine, though with husband in Iraq and all....

Kind of nice though that we can support eachother on here secure in having both applied to different sections...:)

Yes, definitely a little less pressure I suppose  I am surprised that nobody else has replied to the thread... that could mean a few things ;)

My hubby being away is another reason why I want to fast forward time!

Am I the only person obsessively checking their application status and email??? *sigh*

At least I got my official GRE scores in the mail today, woo hoo!

Hanging On

Family NP is April 16. When is yours? Best of luck! I'm so nervous. What kind of questions do you think they're going to ask?
