Any TNCC or TCC Spring 2014 hopefuls?

Published

Hi all!! I'm applying to Thomas Nelson CC and Tidewater CC in September for this upcoming spring semester (2014). Just curious if there are any others that will be doing the same?? Looking to find some friends on here that I can keep in touch with to help pass the time and keep each other motivated!

Look forward to hearing from you!

Hey! I'm thinking about applying but not quite sure. Have you taken the hesi yet? And if u don't mind me asking, what's your gpa like?

Hi!! Unfortunately right now my cumulative GPA is a 2.8, but I haven't gotten below a B for all of my sciences and program pre-reqs/required gen ed courses. I've gotten some bad grades on random unnecessary classes due to health issues about a year ago and recently losing my job...lots of stress going on lately. BUT, I will be working my tail off to get it back up.

I have no taken the HESI yet. I have the study guide for it, though. Planning on taking it in the next 2-3 weeks I suppose. If it allows a basic calculator on the math section, I should be OK. I have a hard time on the TEAS because of the math sections...but TNCC doesn't seem to have an unattainable score requirement for the TEAS.

Sorry to ramble on! What's keeping you from applying? Have you taken any of the placement tests? What classes do you have completed?

Well what's holding me back is my gpa. I feel as if its not as competitive as it should be compared to those who were accepted to tcc in the blogs I've read. Also, I'm a nervous test taker and honestly that's my main reason why I feel so undecided. I've taken the teas in June for another nursing program but my score was terrible. I know I need to get over this issue ASAP but I just began studying for the hesi. I will probably take it sometime early September. My gpa is a 3.0 in the required prereqs but hopefully if they can accept my chemistry class in replacement of my micro then it'll probably be a 3.3. Sorry for the rambling too! Lol. What book are u using to study if u don't mind me asking?

Ah I gotcha. Well if you meet the requirements, then it doesn't hurt to try! I know that regardless of how hard I study for the TEAS, I can never seem to get a good math score on it. That test just sucks! Lol.

For the TEAS test, I have the study guide from the ATI website...and for the HESI, I have the HESI Admission Assessment exam review books.

I keep meaning to calculate my GPA for the pre-reqs, haha, maybe I should go ahead and do that..

Yea you're right. But u should go ahead and calculate it. You're gpa is probably better that way!

Well, with the classes for Tidewater, my GPA is only a 3.19. For Thomas Nelson, it is. 3.0. Lame. But still better than the bare minimum 2.5! Lol

It's better than nothing girl! It doesn't hurt to apply. I had some girl in one of my classes tell me her gpa was a 3.0 and she said she was going to apply for the Lpn bridge and she was proud of her gpa so I should be too! We can motivate each other! Are u in tcc or tncc now?

I went to TNCC's info session, and acceptance is mostly based upon GPA and TEAS score. They also give you a few " extra points" if you received "A's" in your science courses.

I'm currently living in Petersburg, so I am not a student at either school, but will be moving in November when my lease ends. I'm hoping to get a yes from one of them so I know where to move!! Lol.

I also went to the info session on August...8th? And had a lot of my questions answered. I just really hope I get into at least one of them! I don't even care which one, really. Hah

Yea I feel what you're saying, I'm at the point where I would be beyond happy getting accepted into any nursing program

Exactly! I think we can do it :)
