Any suggestions for a good nursing review book for an RN wanting to return to work?

Published

I need to freshen up on skills, and basically all nursing "stuff". I plan on returning to the workforce eventually and I'd like something to review. I do have a couple of old texts however they are random ones like peds nursing, maternity nursing but nothing encompassing the general. I have only 3 yrs experience, and recently took of 5 years to care for my children. I know the best thing probably would be to return full time however I can only do part-time work when I do return.

any good texts or review type books to help someone return?

Thanks

I took a nursing refresher course after my 9 year leave from nursing. I found it very useful. It combined class and clinical time. I also reviewed NCLEX reviews books. Find a job that will include a good orientation period. You'll be surprised how quickly it will all come back to you.

Check with your BON before going any further. I live in AR and if you have been out of the workforce for 5 years you must take a refresher course before returning to work. I have been out of the workforce for 33 years and am in the process of finishing up my clinical preceptor portion of the course.

The refresher course will determine what textbooks you purchase.
