Are there any Emory University students here? I'll be starting the WHNP program in the fall and am looking to get in touch with other soon-to-be or current students. :typing

Anyone also going into the WHNP program? :grad:

Where are others who are relocating for school planning to live (on, off campus...)? :sofahider

Any advice to us newbies from those who've attended Emory or are currently attending? :plsebeg:

Anyone planning to work while attending school? Do you already have a job lined up? :nurse:

I thought I had come across a few fellow Emory students on this site a few months back but I haven't been getting many responses to previous posts. Hopefully I'll have more luck this time! I'm looking forward to hearing from any and every body! :D

Thanks!

Kate

I'm not starting any time soon, but have been looking at attending Emory starting next year.

If you don't mind my asking, how do you plan to pay for it? I know their tuition is very high, and really don't want to acquire more student loan debt. Did you get any scholarships/grants?

Thanks. Good luck in your program. :yeah:

I did receive some scholarship and grant awards, however it is not enough to cover the entire cost of attendance. I'll be taking out federal loans and paying the rest as I go. I'd like to find a PT job once I've settled into the rhythm of school life. We'll see how that goes.

Good luck to you, whatever you decide for your future!

RNKatePSU-

I will be starting the BSN/MSN segue program for PNP at Emory this Fall. I have leved in Georgia for 3 years so I won't be relocating. Where are you relocating from? Right now I do not plan on working, but I am hoping once I get used to being back in school (got a BA in 2005) that I will be able to find and hold done a job...especially because I am freaking out about how I will afford to live once I live my current full time job. Anyways,

It's good to speak to someone who will be starting this fall as well. Congratulations!

hrabell,

I'll be relocating from Germany to go to school. I've been living here for the last two years while my husband serves in the Army.

I hope to get a job once I've settled into school. I've looked online but it's hard to arrange that and get a feel for things being so far away. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do about housing either. I believe there is the option to live in graduate housing on campus but I'm not sure I want to do that. Plus, I have a cat who will be coming with me so that's a factor in the decision.

Have you scheduled classes yet? I'm not able to, for whatever reason. I'm not sure why. I think I should be able to schedule online through OPUS but the link isn't available. Anyways... I know information will come out from the head of my program in August. I just have to sit tight, I guess!

Good luck to you in your PNP program. Maybe we'll cross paths in the other general courses. Feel free to keep in touch! Like I said in my first post, it doesn't seem like there are many of us Emory grad students out here on allnurses!

Hi RNKatePSU-

I still haven't received any sort of "welcome packet" besides my acceptance letter and my financial aid package, but I am definitely itching to plan all the details. I was told by someone in the nursing admissions office that we do not register for classes until orientation week at the end of August, so that pretty much messes with me planning ahead to find carpooling and part time work. Have a safe trip back from Germany!

Just wondering how your schooling went!? I guess you both should be done by now!! Did you end up working?! How did you like the school? I'm looking at Emory, but wanted to get some input!!! :)

I second that! I would love to hear some feedback as I am interested in applying here as well. How did everything go with the program and job placement afterwards?
