Any Sam Houston State University Spring 2013 prospective students out there?

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post and see if anyone out there was planning to apply to Sam Houston's BSN program this Fall? Or if any of you are already students there. It's a very new program, so I'm just curious about the quality of the program. Unfortunately it's the closest program to where we live by a long shot. So rather than having to drive 2+ hours each way to the medical center I've decided it's probably the best shot. I would prefer to apply to UT or TWU, but I may not have the choice.

I've debated seriously over the last year about whether nursing is the best career choice with the economy being in a stand still and so many new nurses out there not being able to find work.

What I really want to do is to go on to a Pediatric Nurse practitioner program. I had seriously put some thought into going to medical school, but I just don't know if I can bring myself to pay well over $200,000 for the education and spend the next 10 years in school.

Do any of you regret your decision to go to nursing school? Do you feel that there are better career paths out there right now? Or do you think the economy will eventually right itself and the job situation will get better?

I would appreciate your input!

Take Care,

Sonseria

Did you apply anywhere else?

Yes, TWU and PV. You should call today and see what they say. I am going to call....

My friend spoke with someone in Sam and said cannot tell if we got accepted. We just have to wait...someone else have been accepted to the program?

Any news?

Nothing yesterday. Hopefully today.

Does anybody have any news?

Does anybody have any news?

A no for me :-(

I'm sure my problem was the teas score.

My friend received a letter yesterday and she got rejected because there are no more spaces available, the good thing is that she applied for a community college and got accepted.

Yeah, I think the problem is the teas score, but is not fear because they told me that the teas did not count. I think they makes you to apply and make money from the applications. They always encourage you to apply, knowing that the scores are not good enough.

Did you hear anything?

I should have applied to lonestar just in case, but I was so sure I was getting in I didn't. I plan on retaking my TEAS and really studying for it. I won't make the mistake of just applying to one school for fall. I have several I want to apply to (UTMB UTHSC TWU Lonestar and Midwestern State)

Yeah received the letter saying that no more spots available.
