apparently like the other 400+ people before me on the waiting list at Santa Ana College:cry:, I'm wondering how long did it take to get in?
I did pretty good in my pre-reqs:
Eng 101, A
Micro (Health), B
Anatomy, A
Phsy, A
this would give my 35 pts on their ranking system.
my overall GPA was about 3.2 at the time of my application.
no prior certs (LVN, EMT).
does/did anyone else have grades similar to these? and if so, how long did it take you?
the letter that I rec'd stated was vague in regards to my expected wait time, which I'm sure is what they were going after.
I've was told by a counselor @ SAC before that they cannot truly have an accurate idea of exactly how many people are ahead of me as they encounter a number of individuals that are on their list, but for one reason or another will no longer attend once their names come up (people move out of state, go to another college, change majors, etc).
in addition I wonder how many of those names ahead of me are those of people with LVNs, who will be entering on the 3rd semester of the program.
and furthermore, has anyone had to take that TEAS test yet?
was that thing intense at all? are their any study guides you can recommend?
OC Angelsfan:
If you have 35 points, you should be admitted in Fall of 2009, and should receive a letter sometime between this October and November.
Just to be on the safe side, though, you should also put in an application to Long Beach and to Saddleback, because you have the pre-req grades to put yourself in priority for those schools. Long Beach ESPECIALLY favors the men in their selection process, and I know several people who have been admitted with overall GPAs like yours. There is no waiting list for either of those schools.
In addition, people who are applying to SAC and are in the EOPS program, and are International Students get in almost immediately. I know someone who only had 26 points, and was placed at number 536 on the list (this past Spring semester), and then got a letter A MONTH LATER and was admitted for this Fall semester! Saddleback has stopped taking International Students in their Nursing program.

I think that is standard. All of the paperwork I've seen say they will not accept international students and visas of a certain type as long as there are qualified citizens to fill the slots (which imho is how it should be).

actually, i just got my acceptance letter today! i'm being "considered" for the Spring 2009 class. as long as i get my letter to them before all the slots are filled, i'm in. today is friday @ 4pm...i'm gonna personally take it in to the nursing department monday morning.
i turned in my application this past February...so less than a year to get my acceptance letter.
looks like my life as i know it now is OVER! lol
in reference to your statement regarding preference to men at LB...
my aunt was a teacher of a nursing class at a community college in southern california once...he was personally told by the director (or whoever) of the nursing program that she must give as much attention to the male nursing students in her class...they requested that she do everything within reason to help them pass. so i have no doubt that other schools would bend the rules here or there to get men into and thru their programs.
Which school? You didn't say but this is a SAC thread (as you know since you started it :) ) with references to Saddleback and LB. Congratulations!
THX!!!!!1!!
haha...my bad. my brain's going a million miles a minute...
i was accepted at SAC. i got lazy...that was the only school i wound up applying to. just as well, i love SAC so much, i wanted to just go there anyhow.
i would have applied to more schools last semester but i was so busy taking an EMT class there...

Hi Apgar10...hang in there! I'm trying to keep sane myself. Thank gawd the fall semester is starting on Monday because I's tired of obsessing on the next open rn program application dates. SAC seems like the only school that I've applied to that's open to revealing our entry number on the list. Have you heard from any other schools that do this?
