Any RNs from the Modesto area, need advice

Published

I am moving to Modesto, and wanted to know if anyone on the boards know about the hospitals there. I know there is a Sutter Hosp. Wondering about their reputation, and how the nurses are treated, or any other info I can get. It would be so appreciated. Thanks

Come on guys, is there no nurses from Modesto? please, I just need alittle info. I hate to go into a new city and hospital scene cold. I am a seasoned RN with Cardio experience, and just about everything else. Please can someone talk to me? thank you.

Can't answer what you are looking for, familiar with the areas south and north, but not there.

If you love farmer's markets, there will be plenty around, and with all of the fresh produce. It will be hot inthe summer, remember that you are inland and in the middle of the state.

I have done travel assignments in CA, and have never had an issue about not knowing anyone or where anything is. Almost makes it easier to meet people that way. Always have things to do and places to see. As well as people to meet.

Thanks Suzanne4, I love all those things, Guess I will see soon, thank you for answering.

Im still looking for that special someone to answer this thread, any takers? thanks if there is.

Specializes in NICU, Telephone Triage.

I have relatives that live in Modesto, I am originally from Stockton, which is nearby.

I've heard Kaiser is building a hospital in Modesto, not sure when it will be done. They have great benefits...look into Kaiser Hospitals if you plan on staying long-term especially, because like I said, their retirement benefits are great, and their salary is great, too.

There are Kaiser Hospitals in the Bay Area and Sacramento, The Central Valley might mainly have clinics for now until that hospital is built.

not sure about the other hospitals there.

Good luck.

P.S. It is hot..also I just read in the paper that Modesto has a high rate of car theft...remember that is also where Laci and Scott Peterson were from.

Modesto has had it's name in the papers for weird things in the past few years!

Kaiser Permanente Hospital-coming soon!!!! Building in process in North Modesto.

I guess I am the special someone. In addition to the three hospitals listed above, you have Oak Valley Hospital of Oakdale and Emanuel Hospital of Turlock within 18 mi. of Modesto.

Specializes in Obstetrics.

Actually, I work at Sutter (Memorial) and it is a great hospital. The nurses seem happy and I'm somewhat objective because I'm a travel nurse in the L&D department...

Also, to Tim, were you staying at 2 rivers RV park with us?

I second your view about Memorial. The general consensus is that Memorial is the better place to work.

Teresa- No, Teresa that was not me. I am one of those lowly middle-aged college students who will be applying to MJC's nursing program in August. And this applies to another thread but I will say it here. You are never too old to start a new career. I am forty-nine and I will be fifty-one by the time I am finished.

Specializes in O.R., ED, M/S.

I have friends that were born and raised in Modesto and they still like living there. The funny thing about Modesto is that the bulk of the population is on the east side of Hwy 99 where as the rural part is on the west side. I get off the fwy to go to their house and they live out amongst the almond orchards and if I go to Costco I feel like I am in L.A.! I have heard they same things about Memorial. I live in the Sierras but still work in SoCal, drive 450 miles one way to work.
