  3. I just moved from oklahoma City and I am here to tell you, that thre are alot of people with Tats, Me included. Most older ladies and their husbands had tattos also, we used to compare, it has become so familiar, and accepted. school is another thing, but I have never seen a patient freaked out by a tatoo, unless of coorifice it was evil, or Mediaograpic, the bible belt dont you know!!!! What ever, trust me, its all good!!!! Ther is also alot of Military in Oklahoma. So tats are common, and they just legalized it there . So dont sweat the small stuff. Ok
  4. I am wondering if this is true of all Kaiser institutions in Calif. I am trying to decide where to work, in a Sutter hosp. A Kaiser hosp. Or a CHW Hosp. I have read these posts, and so far, Sutter I think is winning. Any info is appreciated. I am a skilled RN. with over 16 years experience, just new to CA. I live in Modesto, So Sacramento, or San Fran are possiblities also, So is Stockton. Does any one have info of these areas and hosp. Thanks
  5. I was taught by a cardiologist to not pull two sheaths at once, venous and arterial, because this could cause a fistula. I pulled the arterial first, and five min. later pulled the venous, never letting up pressure. If we used a closure pad, with manual pressure, we held 10 min. before looking, if manual with out a closure pad, a good 20 to 25 min. before letting up. never failed the venous site was the one that oozed. supeficial blood only. Before the cardiologist told me to pull one at a time, I pulled them at one time if they were close together, but now I dont anymore. We always started 2 large bore IV's before a PTCA, so we didnt need the venous sheath, the Dr's didnt like us running meds through them anyway, I have found a vagal response is in direct response to too much pressure being applied, It hurts them and the hold their breath, and next thing you know, they are going down. NS and atropine are definatly your best friend, along with a cold wash cloth, and O2, and a calm personality . Our drs sometimes order lidocaine to the sheath sites, to deaden them alittle, I can't honestly see the difference. You can hold pressure without pressing them through the matress, but it takes practice. Good luck hopes this helps.
  6. Im still looking for that special someone to answer this thread, any takers? thanks if there is.

  9. I am moving to Modesto, and wanted to know if anyone on the boards know about the hospitals there. I know there is a Sutter Hosp. Wondering about their reputation, and how the nurses are treated, or any other info I can get. It would be so appreciated. Thanks
