Have just moved to Aussie to practice and found out that they don't have RT working in the ICU. Would appreciate it if anyone could recommend some self-study websites about ventilator settings and management. Not just the basics that we've learnt at school, but with more details and practical use. Thanks in advance!!!

I've never used the web for vent education since I was an RT for 10 yrs prior to switching to nursing. However, if they don't have RT's in Australia, I hope that your orientation would include a hefty section on vents.
In my nursing program, we got nothing, nada, zippo about vents . . . not even basics. However, just start googling vents, ventilator management and go to the website of the manufacturer of the vent used at your facility. There's lots out there.

Adult Ventilation Management Online Nursing Continuing Education Course
This is a very nice pdf on adult ventilation management written for nurses. You can download and read it for free, but if you want CEU hours (likely you won't as you're in AUS) you have to pay for it.
Just click on the tab "Download to Read Offline" on your left hand side.
After this pdf, go to LearnICU.org - Society of Critical Care Medicine and sign up (it's free) in order to listen to the ICU lectures. They have a couple on ventilatory support.
Even further! There are some great podcasts by ICU Rounds ICU Rounds It has a search function on the lower right hand area of the blog. Here is a word search on "ventilation," I did for you. ICU Rounds
Enjoy!
