Hi,I live in the Northern Wisconsin area close to Minocqua. Are there any places that may be hiring new RNs? Most of the clinics and hospitals want RNs to have at least one year of on the job training as they stated in several of the interviews I have already taken.

But it seems as though the interviewers would like someone who has experience. I hadn't heard of a couple of places that you listed so I'm going to search them to see if I can get my resume to them. I was wondering if you woud know if it is easy to transfer my Wisconsin RN license to Michigan. I'm not sure if I need to take another test to get the Michigan license and pay a fee, or if I just need to pay the fee. There are a few jobs for RNs in Ironwood. BookwormRN 313 Posts Specializes in Med/Surg. Aug 18, 2008 Dudra,You DO NOT have to retake the NCLEX exam. In order to work in Michigan (they are not a compact state ) you must contact the Michigan BON and find out what they require of you.Hope this helps! Back to work I go! (slow night)Bookworm

Gotta wonder why they are hiring so many. Wonder what their turnover rate is? I live in Wausau and the two hospitals here- Aspirus and St. Claire's- really are not hiring many nurses period, new grads or not. Neither is the hospital in Merrill or Antigo. Clinics are pretty much the same. After waiting three months since graduating, I am now applying to LTC facilities in town. They have been very receptive so far.

They have been very receptive so far.*** I work at St. Joseph's and I think it's a nice place to work. Pay is very low, almost exactly the saem as the two hospitals in Wausau. St. Jo's is a great place to get started and learn skills IMO. They have a very good 7 month long nurse residency for the speciality units like SICU, CCU, PICU, ER, PACU. I float (by choice) to 8N, oncology and think it's a great floor for med-surg.
Mr.RN-to-be 3 Posts Apr 30, 2009 I saw the posting on St. Joseph's website for the nurse residency program. Do you know what kind of hours the first 7 months are and afterwards. Is it a mixture such as some 8 hour and 12 hour shifts? How much are they paying a new RN as they are being trained? Any info would be appreciated.

How scheduling is organized, shifts, how the teaching is done, strengths, how someone who has done it feels about their education and comfort level coming out of the program, etc. Seeing as how it was the Marshfield ICU nurses who inspired me to do this in the first place, it is a program I have been interested in since starting school (done Dec '09) Would love to hear about/talk to someone about the program.
