  1. I am new to IV's. How do you run Zosyn with normal saline through an IV?
  2. Hi, I am hanging antibiotics on an IV. I'm running it with normal saline. The normal saline is the primary, and the antibiotic is the secondary. For the normal saline is the rate 50 or 100 and is the volume to be infused 50 or 100? Thank you for all your help. All Nurses is a blessing.
  3. Hi, I adore All Nurses. It's the best site for nurses to find answers and ask for help. I would like to know if there is a list which includes all the procedures that need a doctor's order. Is there a website that may include everything that a doctor has to order before a nurse can act on the order? Thank you.
  4. Hi When you get the back flash, do you advance it still with the needle on the bevel or do you retract the needle and push the bevel in?
  5. I have not had too much practice on IVs. This was on a dummy. I just don't know if I was suppose to advance the needle further and when.
  6. Hi, I need help. I was starting to insert an IV. I got the flashback. I couldn't get blood when I asperated. What am I doing wrong?
  7. Should you hold Accupril if a patient, aged about 80 years old, has a blood pressure of 110/52? His pulse rate is 57.
  8. Hi, I am an RN checking on some medications for a double lumen picc line. I would like to know if vancomycin and ceftriaxone are compatible with tubing? Can I use the same tube for these two medications? Or should the tube be discarded after the first medicine is administered? Also does it matter what port I use on a double lumen picc line? Thank you for any help.
  9. "It is logistically IMPOSSIBLE for one nurse to provide competent, adequate, thorough, and truly compassionate nursing care to 30 residents. You can come in early, leave late, skip all meals and breaks, and still not do the things you should be doing, still not give the care the residents deserve. " You are so right, Colima.
  10. Hi, I was wondering if there is a RN to patient ratio in a nursing home in Wisconsin? How many RN's does a nursing home have to employ? Would anyone know where I can find out? Thank you and have a save and happy Memorial Day.
  11. Greetings. Does anybody know of a good book or an online site that actually SHOWS how to do nursing procedures. For example I found a site that shows how to find the dorsogluteal site. It was the best site I found. http://wps.prenhall.com/chet_wilson_drugguides_1/6/1576/403564.cw/index.html It actually went through the steps to find the site. But I am looking for either a very good book or an online site that shows the steps of changing an Aquacel Dressing. Has anyone ever considered video taping changing an Aquacel Dressing and posting it up at YouTube? That would be a great help.
  12. First, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my question. It is nice to know there are nurses who care and can help out. Second, would anyone happen to know a good book that deals with Charting? Is the Charting Made Incredibly Easy book something that would be informative? Are there any other books that may be beneficial? We don't have a lot of nurses at the site. The nurses who are there, tend to work long hours and have familes. Therefore it is impossible for them to review my chartings. Again I thank everyone for their value and informative information.
  13. Actually everyone that works there is very busy. It's understaffed. Everyone wants to get home early, and they don't have time to help. A shift that should end in eight hours usually ends in ten hours (or more).
  14. Thank you. We were told to chart everything.
  15. I'm a new Registered Nurse with my first job at a Nursing Home. My problem is that the college I attended didn't focus on charting at all. My question is what should be included in the charting? Is there a system to follow when charting? Is there a place online that has a step by step process? Thank you for any help and Happy Easter.
