Hey guys,
I just got accepted to Penn's CRNA program for the May09 cohort...just wanted to network and see who else is out there.
rndee81,
I am working for the Penn Health System in the CTICU. The only thing is that I only have about 1 1/2 yrs of experience. I hear from different things from different ppl regarding experience. One of our anesthetists went to (and occasionally teaches at ) LaSalle and says to put my app in now. On the other hand I've heard other anesthetists say they keep seeing anesthettists with less than three years of experience, and they think anesthetists should have more experience. I'm taking grad. classes now and got an A in pathophys. and will be starting pharm next week, so I figure that will help. A guy I know from undergrad. was accepted to the Penn class starting 2009. I heard the news from a friend. Anyways, I figured if they accepted him with, really at that time, only a few months of experience then I shouldn't stress out about it.
ok...the experience thing...myself...i needed a good 3 years to be ready. i ended up with 5 though because although 3 was enough for me clinically...i just was not ready for school then. i also worked in every specialty there is aside from burn...so for you? YOU are the one who knows where you stand clinically and academically. if you wanna go, then go! maybe some crna's should have had more experience but i also know some superstars that were amazing with a year or 2. but that is just my opinion. you could always call or email the program and just ask if they think you are a competitve applicant too

rndee81, I posted a q on the upenn interview process on another post you were involved with...but i noticed this one was more recent. I am getting ready to send everything in to upenn. Your story of the one lady interogating you for three hours is frightening. Are there any words of wisdom from your experience?
