Hey guys,
I just got accepted to Penn's CRNA program for the May09 cohort...just wanted to network and see who else is out there.
i think i posted my stats on here someplace but i will of course share them with you as i appreciated accepted students sharing with me when i was researching! first of all..you have way more expertise that i do! lol. i have >4 years experience with 5 by the start of school. majority has been cticu with vads and tx but i have also worked in trauma, ccu and dabbled in micu as well. i am ccrn-csc and tncc certified. my gpa is nothin special at 3.46(but i think acing all my math and sciences helped my cause) ...i tended to get C's in classes like religion and child psy! oh..and 1300 GRE with a verbal 600 and 700 quan 4.5 analytical. i think that its good to keep the ICU fresh...i do not think that it should work against you because you already far exceed the min requirements for clinical experience.
hey rncg03...i got your PM . thanks so much for replying to me. i still do not have enough posts i think to PM you back but i do have many questions about the program. i was actually told initially by financial aid when i applied that the cost of the program was 70,000...then when i was admitted...they told me it was 100,000....and now i find out from a real student that its actually 120,000? wow....i wish it was trending the other way!

Thanks for the info! My numbers aren't as good as yours. Maybe with some luck and my knowledge of critical care. Just got CCRN yesterday!
I actually just found out today that I an interview with Allegheny....kinda freakin out...just a little! I chose Nov 17. Already have flight and hotel booked! They told me to expect 2 1/2 hrs for interview ( you were on the money). I'm getting closer to PM...just a few more to go!
hey got your pm (not in my power yet due to my lack of posts). yes, i applied and interviewed at rush (still waiting to hear back), and was in the process of finishing applications at a few other schools when i was accepted at penn- so i withdrew my other apps. seeing a number like that is very scary. but i hope to only have loans for school expenses, and use my husbands income for living (the thought of going to a one person income is also very scary). in any case the end result will def. be worth it. are you for sure going to penn or are you still pondering your other options?

thanks! yep gonna keep workin on enough posts!
i'll give you a history of my experience:
*1st 5 years CCU/CVICU/SICU...lots of post CABG
*next 4 years cardiac cath lab/special procedures
*next 2 years cardiac cath lab/radiology nurse/imaging nurse
(cardiologists office)/CVICU/ICU
I returned to critical care about 24hrs per week while still full time in radiology. I only did this to try and be "current in icu" while applying for crna school. Hope not going full time back to icu doesn't come back and bite me in the butt.
What about you?
