I am currently changing careers from a teacher to a nurse. I want to transition into the medical field. I wanted to know what is the pay rate in Georgia? Also, is there a way to be cross trained as a unit secretary? I know it would be less than $30,000 but I am trying to get my foot in the door. Thanks for any information!
PCT's make approx. $12 an hr in Atlanta, however it all depends on experience. You will have to get a job somewhere that may need cover for a Unit Secretary to be trained. But, it's possible. However, if you tell them up front that you may want to transition, they may not take you on. Good luck though.

Thank you so much for the information!
I know the dialysis companies hire PCT's and will train them for dialysis. I don't know how much it pays but have heard around $15 - as far as a unit secretary..I think training would depend on the the hospital you apply to.
Okay, I will check that out. Would it better to do the CNA certification and apply for PCT jobs or should I find a PCT certification class?
The dialysis clinics - as far as I know - provide all the training. As far as hospital or other non dialysis places I think it would depend on the place - I would think most hospitals w/the budget cuts would not offer the certification unless, possibly, you signed a contract. I'd suggest contacting the places you are interested in and asking but for sure Davita & Fresenious train.
