Any Nurses in Halifax Nova Scotia?

Published

Hi! I am an RN in the Phil and presently working in a JCI-Accredited hospital here in Egypt and I am planning to work in Halifax, NS. I already have the forms for CRNNS to assess. My main concern is that, if in case i would be eligible to seat the CRNE, is there any employer who sponsors foreign workers? I have sent an inquiry to Capital Health Authority and they said that they have to prove first that there are insufficient number of canadians who will fill the post before they consider my application.

I am about to send the forms by next week but I am still undecided. I just want to make sure that NS is still hiring foreign nurses before sending my application..Please help me..

I found the CRNNS quick to answer any email queries I had in regards to my application. Have you tried emailing them?

Yes I did, but they always says i should try to be patient, and they will process my application as quickly as they can,, I wonder if it would really take 6-8 months to process an application now as was stated in their website, while i heard some nurses who have been given an eligibility for as early as 2weeks after they have completed the requirements.

If they are telling you to be patient then that is all you can do. It took me a few months to goo through the process and this time of the year it is a bit busy because the yearly license renewal is done End of Oct beginning of Nov

Hi Xiani, i think we both applied to CRNNS last September, do you mind if I ask the status of your application?Have you got anything from them since then?

I was also in the trouble of finding where to pay thru credit card Apparently, I was able to find it. A friend suggested that I should print the form first, the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia Credit card Payment form, where the details of the payment is also printed. Then, attach it with the form in Part 1. Application for Initial Registration Assessment for IENs together with the ID and birth cert. Guys, is it ok if I do that? Thank you for you help.

Thank you Silverdragon,,yeah, i think that's all i can dofor now:)

Hi to all:

I am so glad to learn a lot from you guys, I just applied and completed evrything this nov 2010

I would like to ask if any of you have undergone sec in CRNNS , I am a second course nurse but currently

employed for more than 3 years. I received a questionnaire if I have done sec during my application process.

If eligibility is granted by CRNNS , how long is the temp. visa given to nurses who will take crne and is it easy

to find for a job as a graduate nurse , because I might not be able to return to my present job here in the Phils.

Competition here is so stiff that once you leave your post, others will occupy it.

What route are you looking at coming to NS? If PR via the FSW then you will have to wait for next year as all allocation of 1000 has been used up for this year. Only way to get accepted is if you get a letter of employment. Getting a tourist visa to come over and sit CRNE and look for work i think is hard and have seen several post on here that they was refused as not enough ties to prove you will return home.

I applied under FSW last Oct. 5, 2010.No reply yet. But the CRNNS result might come earlier, so I would like to know how long is TRV if granted and I have a history of international travel and a US visit visa(10 yrs., but I hav'nt been there yet), would that help in getting the trv. I can't be allowed to take leave more than a month in my work, I'm a govt. nurse but our chief nurse always deny request of long vacation leave, saying better resign and give the chance to others.I just hope that once I have the eligibility and the background

check from VO is done I will go to there and finish the exam and look for work even as a graduate nurse. But I'm hoping I will not undergo sec, bec. that would take my plans in a different turn again.

Having a US tourist visa will not help you get a Canadian one. There are no guarantees that you will get a TRV but what will aid your application is plenty of ties to prove that you plan on returning back to your country and work. They may well ask you if you have applied for PR and I would imagine your name will flag up when they are looking at your case and that may have an impact on whether they will give you one or not. I think their main worry is not leaving on time and the TRV being abused.

There have been some IEN's asked to do SEC or NS equivalent of SEC so it may be something that you have to think about

Hi everyone. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I have an eligibility to take the CRNE in Nova Scotia. I applied for the FSW category. I just want to ask if there a lot of nursing jobs in Nova Scotia?

Currently seeing less and less jobs advertised here in NS. I know locally there used to be several jobs advertised by the health authority and now there are none. Also last time I checked the health authority was only accepting internal applicants for jobs. You may have some luck with LTC facilities but the only way to find out is contact them. A lot will also depend on where abouts in NS you wish to live
