Any Nurses in Halifax Nova Scotia?

Published

Hi! I am an RN in the Phil and presently working in a JCI-Accredited hospital here in Egypt and I am planning to work in Halifax, NS. I already have the forms for CRNNS to assess. My main concern is that, if in case i would be eligible to seat the CRNE, is there any employer who sponsors foreign workers? I have sent an inquiry to Capital Health Authority and they said that they have to prove first that there are insufficient number of canadians who will fill the post before they consider my application.

I am about to send the forms by next week but I am still undecided. I just want to make sure that NS is still hiring foreign nurses before sending my application..Please help me..

in my case, our hospital coordinator did it and she also functions as the hr resource person.hr should be best to fill it up because they have the records of your employment details or it will be entirely up to you whoever is more accesible between your don or hr. for the ielts see highlighted note below,i copied and pasted this from the crnns website.i do not think they will accept results coming from you.

I already completed the necessary documents. I am sending these by tomorrow morning. I like to ask regarding the mode of payment. I am planning to pay the assessment through visa credit card. I am trying pay it online but it seems their website is down. Can I just send the credit card info together with my application form? and what card info should I give? Thank you!

I was also in the trouble of finding where to pay thru credit card Apparently, I was able to find it. A friend suggested that I should print the form first, the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia Credit card Payment form, where the details of the payment is also printed. Then, attach it with the form in Part 1. Application for Initial Registration Assessment for IENs together with the ID and birth cert. Guys, is it ok if I do that? Thank you for you help.

I am expecting that most Filipinos there are working in various long-term care facilities as recruitment agencies in the Philippines have a number of vacancies in nursing homes. Maybe, most of the Filipinos are not aware that they can apply online. As for me, I really want to work in a hospital setting. I want to enrich my knowledge and skills which I have learned in the phil and here in Egypt. By the way, I am a MS nurse and I usually handle liver and kidney transplant patients. I am now looking forward for a career growth in Nova Scotia. Thanks a lot...

hi silver dragon and don -

Sorry to butt in your conversation.

I would also appreciate insights as to where to get a room/ apartment to stay in the area. And where most strategic place to live for a starter like me.

I wil be taking the CRNE soon, attend programs from the RN-PDC, and and maybe look for a job soonest.I just dont know anyone there where i could start up as soon as i land in the airport. Are there any Filipinos, or any good heart to teach me?:o

I live about 2 hours away from Halifax so can't offer any advice but a lot will depend on where you plan on living and working. The airport is also approx 30 mins from Halifax

I understand, silver dragon -- and i thank you for helping out starters :yeah:.

I just wonder, what do you do first, when you arrive there. I am from the philippines, but presently here in NJ USA; I did not have problems with my documents and evaluations. They readily gave me their eligibility to take the CRNE. My concerns are,

1. Should i attend the bridging program first? Is there any review class that i can enroll?

2. Will I be able to squeeze time for a review class while attending all the programs of RN-PDC?

3. I would not have a car, would you sugggest that i live near the Halifax area until I familiarize?

4. Would you know of any Filipino group who help starters?

Would love to hear from your wisdom on these concerns:)

I wish someone can help me.

And thank you!

What bridging program are you doing? If the course is in Halifax then yes I would suggest you live in Halifax where the bus transport system is a bit better than elsewhere. Most people rely on having their own car here in NS.

I went to a review class on the CRNE for International nurses and it was just for a day so you should be able to manage it

Well, CRNNS (Ms ********* is very kind!) recommends me to take the Orientation to the Canadian Health Care system thru RN-PDC and the Prep Workshop(C/0 Ms **********). Thats all...

Honestly, i still dont know how many days it would take me to finish them. Would you have any idea?

My plan is, i will fly there two months before the exam, find a good review class and take the exams. And maybe in between -- find a job to start with. I can not choose at this time, a decent one is good enough. Even if i have my Masters, I am new to the place -- the soonest i accept that, the better for me.

And I do.

I wish i could get a decent room near these area - or any place accessible to my basic needs.

Do you think i am on the right track?

Thank you.

I would suggest you chat to them on how many days it will take, Looking at the website it is a 3 hour program once a week for 10 weeks and offered twice a year. The review for CRNE is one day and runs all day so you can easily combine the two

thank you so much -- i will do just that.:clown::nurse:

Hi LizNurse,

Are you in Halifax by now?how is it going...

Hello everyone! I recently completed submitting all the required documents to CRNNS (I believed my application belongs to the old rule: Applicaton before NOv.1, 2010), I heard from a lot of nurses that CRNNS is quick in processing applications, can you give me an idea on how long does it really takes. Mine was completed a month ago but I never heard or received anything from CRNNS yet, I'm now worried. Thank you
