just wondering how many of you work in NC, i live in the Winston-Salem area. after school i'm going to try and get a job at Forsyth Medical Center. i'm interested in psych nursing, hoping that i can maybe get into it right out of school(i'll be done in dec). also hoping to work the weekend only shift after i get enough experience. are weekend only shifts easy to find in NC hospitals? thanks!

I think that depends on the hospital--how flexible they are. Some prefer you work strictly on a "track." Most hospitals are so short that they welcome RNs working weekends only (especially weekend nights). Some hospitals offer weekend option, where they pay you the equivalent of 40 hours for working 2 weekend shifts.

Welcome to the board, Anson! :D I'm a nursing instructor in NC.

Hi Anson...I live and work in NC. Welcome!

I haven't seen "weekend only" shifts here. Nights are usually the most open positions.

There has been a new forums created for each state. Check it out.
