Any MCC-Penn Valley Nursing Aug 2015 Applicants?

Published

Just wondering if there is anyone else on here who is planning to submit an application to MCC-Penn Valley's ADN program in August?

I am out of town this week. I will be hand delivering my application next Monday.

Hey guys, I just found this thread and thought I'd say something. I sent off my application a few weeks ago (sent it via UPS with priority tracking because I'm super paranoid) so now I suppose I'll be waiting to hear something. I can't seem to find this mythical group on Facebook and I can't quite use the PM function on this website, hah.

Hi hooliebug! I am hoping the busyness of the semester will distract me from the waiting. From what I can tell from past years we should hear by the end of September.

The group is currently listed as closed so you should be able to see it if you type in the schools name when you search under groups. Try MCC and see what comes up.

Week 6 since the end of the application period. Letters are coming soon, right?

I hope so. I'm getting really anxious!

Hey all, I just wanted to give you a heads up. I received a phone call from the nursing director at Penn Valley this AM and was informed of my acceptance into the RN program. I was informed that letters allegedly went out sometime this week, but I haven't gotten mine yet. I know some of you might have applied to the other program, but I assume your letters/phone calls aren't far behind.

For RN people: be advised that your letter might not indicate days or evenings. I requested evenings but apparently got bumped to days because my 'GPA wasn't good enough' for nights. Not sure what I'm going to do, but I thought I'd share a blanket warning for everyone waiting for news.

I got in. My letter came today. It didn't specify days or nights. I applied for days so I am assuming that is what I got.

Well, if I don't get switched to nights, I guess I'll see you in a couple of months for class. :p

So I guess if there was a lot of applicants for nights then you were bumped to days when they ran out of spots? I didn't think they did that since their website says that if you don't get accepted for what you applied for you have to apply next time. But I guess if they didn't have enough applications for days then they had room? That doesn't make the program sound very promising if it is easy to get into.

I called the office and left a voice mail for the director to confirm that I got days. I will ask her how many applications they had.

I have no idea. I honestly thought there'd be more applicants for days but I'm not too surprised to learn there are a lot of people in my position. I thought the reasoning for 'bumping me' to days was shady -- I can't decide if this is the result of an administrative error on their part and they're trying to save face or I was fed some BS lie for some reason. I have the director's number so I fully intend on calling her EVERY. DAY. until I get answers.

I'm not concerned about the program -- I'm confident it's solid. I think the biggest shortcomings at PV is horrible administration.

PS: My GPA is 3.65 and I did really well on the TEAS, so I hope that doesn't make me a mouth-breather who got lucky with getting a spot, lol.

Phew...your not a mouth breather! LOL no offense intended at all.

I really meant that because of the disorganization there may not be as many people applying. Not just people with low grades but an actual lack of applicants. But who knows. I think the program is solid too. I am not so sure about the administration's disorganization. This is a prime example and I don't think it is the first time it has happened either. Keep calling the director, hopefully she can sort it out.
