Any jobs for New Grads?

U.S.A. Idaho

Published

Hi,

I would like to know how the job market is in Idaho for new grad nurses. I passed the boards in June and have been looking for jobs in California since then (my home town) with no such luck. Just as a side note: I received an email today from one of the hospitals I applied at in SoCal and it said that they received over 1,000 (yes, a thousand!) applications for new grad positions and will contact me in a later date.

I want to know if there is better luck in Idaho as I've looked in nearby California states (Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and Washington) and getting nothing but "We aren't hiring new grads right now...check back at the end of the year" and the like.

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I don't really have much advice, sorry....but don't forget to look at usa jobs for rn openings on base here- Mtn. Home AFB...

Here in Southeastern Idaho the nursing jobs are few & far between. We have 3 RN & 2 LPN nursing schools and most students stay in the area. I do know that in the Boise area there are a few more nursing jobs but I don't know about the amount of experience needed. Good luck.

Specializes in ER, ICU, med/surg.

I'm lucky, I got a position only a month after passing NCLEX. My one piece of advice is this: DO NOT BE TO GOOD TO LOOK AT LTC. Even if they only have a PRN position open, you will still be working. I oriented with a new grad who would be working PRN and so far she works 40 hour weeks. Just keep in mind you won't get that dream job as a new grad and you have to start somewhere.

Thanks for your advice. I still be looking and I'm fully open to working at LTC...thanks again.

No advice here. I don't graduate for two more years, and my goal is to work LTC or hospice. I am in Jersey now, but I moved out here from Coeur d'alene Idaho, and I'm origionally from Utah. I would love to move back out there somewhere when I graduate. Just sending out best wishes your way. Post on here when You find something, I would like to know. Thank you
