I know that MCC schools are having their open house in October, and will have a lot of recruiters there (at least that's what I've been told) but does anyone know of any job fairs for nursing that are coming up? I know it's a little early to start worrying about a job, but I'd like to at least get out and start applying JIC, and at least talk to some of the recruiters. Through the rumor mill I've heard all different amounts for new grad starting pay, and benefits etc. Do any hospitals hire new grads as non-benefited/full-time? Are there any other options for new grads other than a starting salary with normal benefits etc? Thanks for any information,
Keli
Keli,
I forgot to add this earlier...but I know CRH/MGMC has a number of different benefits options that you can choose including a non-benefitted option....

Mary,
You are always so helpful. If I get hired on at Chandler or Mercy Gilbert, I sure hope you get a bonus for referring me! You can bet I'll be at both of those job fairs.
Keli,
It's definitely not too early to start looking at a job for after graduation. I spoke with the HR person at the new Banner Gateway when they had their open house and she said to start really pursuing a job in October because they do their hiring in November.
Mayo Clinic had a "Nursing Open House" 9/22 which I missed but is having a "Career Open House" 10/20 from 9-3pm. I saw their ad in the newspaper a couple of weeks ago. Contact is Regina Holts 480-342-3811 or [email protected]
Thanks everyone, for your replies!!
I've already started looking for a job, I figure L&D is going to be pretty hard to get into, even as an L&D extern, so the sooner the better. PLUS it would be nice to know I have a job for sure after graduation!!
Belinda- I would love to stay and work with you!! I have a friend who works for another hospital, has worked there three years as a PCT, works as an extern as well, was promised she'd have a position when she graduates (Dec '07) and was just told last week that there's no $$$ to hire her So I'm just keeping my options open in case there's no funding for new grads IYKWIM. I'm working Wednesday, hope to see you then!! Hope everything is going great and has smoothed out at BG.

Hi Keli,
Congrats on almost being done!
Your friend's story sounds a little suspicous to me. I don't think you will have a problem getting a new grad job in L&D.
