Hi If you went to Isabella Graham Hart School or have been interviewed there can you tell me about the interview?

I know every school is different----and so I really would like to know what to expect from this school's interview.

Thanks!

This is the thread for Wisconsin schools...you might have better luck posting in the New York thread.....

Hi I don't know if your still interested, but I just graduated from IGH. I'm regretting not going right for my RN. Almost all of the clinical is at RGH and its depressing to see that they don't really hire LPNs anymore.. :( While in clinical, I realized I really want to in acute care and I can't do that with my diploma...at least around here.

I felt like students from our school were almost looked down upon because we weren't going for RN.

I plan to go back at community college for my RN in January, but it limits the hours I can work as an LPN. I have been applying like crazy to nursing homes around the area, calling, sending resumes, etc. and have heard NOTHING.

If you want to get your RN eventually, just do it now, it opens up so many more doors, and I wish someone had told me that before I enrolled. At least become familiar with the job market around Rochester before enrolling. There are a dozen RN opportunites for every LPN posting, sadly.

Congratulations on your graduation! Have you taken your boards yet? I, too, am an IGH grad (2007) Shortly after graduation, I was at MCC taking a physiology class & they were taking applications for their nursing program. As a new grad, I desperately needed a break from school but decided to apply anyway. I got a call a few days later that I got accepted. So I decided to just buckle down & keep going since I was already in "study mode". I went from LPN at IGH to RN at MCC. I graduated in 1 1/2 years. I'll be honest, it did take a while to get a job, since many places wanted experience which I didn't have as a graduate nurse. It was a catch 22. Plus I knew I didn't want night shift (I was a little picky.) Now I work at Unity in the TCC (Transitional Care Center) as an RN. (many hip & knee replacements, lumbar laminectomies, amputations, even medical patients: pneumonia, dehydration, etc.) I have been there one year & I work with many great LPN's who can run circles around me as a nurse with their years of experience. From my perspective, our LPN's are very much respected. Anyway, enough about me. What caught my eye was the fact that you are looking for a position. I believe we still have an LPN opening for a full time Evening position (40 hours) 3-11:30 pm. And also a Night position that is part time (24 hours/week) 11 pm-7:30 am. Perhaps they would work with you as far as scheduling if you wanted to continue your education. If interested, ask for the nurse manager at TCC. Or drop me a line here, I can give you more info. Good luck. : )
