  1. Hi I don't know if your still interested, but I just graduated from IGH. I'm regretting not going right for my RN. Almost all of the clinical is at RGH and its depressing to see that they don't really hire LPNs anymore.. While in clinical, I realized I really want to in acute care and I can't do that with my diploma...at least around here. I felt like students from our school were almost looked down upon because we weren't going for RN. I plan to go back at community college for my RN in January, but it limits the hours I can work as an LPN. I have been applying like crazy to nursing homes around the area, calling, sending resumes, etc. and have heard NOTHING. If you want to get your RN eventually, just do it now, it opens up so many more doors, and I wish someone had told me that before I enrolled. At least become familiar with the job market around Rochester before enrolling. There are a dozen RN opportunites for every LPN posting, sadly.
  2. Thanks for your help. I think it might be more beneficial for me to actually take the course than to just test out of it. I looked into it and its just the actual exam you take at the school. It isn't an online class or program.
  3. Thanks, I will check it out. The only thing is its not a whole online course, its just one exam to test out of taking a course at the college. Has anyone done something similar?
  4. Currently I am a student more than half way done with my LPN program, expected graduation date in June! I'm thinking about continuing school for my RN. Originally I was trying to get into the program at my local community college, but it was very competitive and got sick of waiting. On the community college website it states that an LPN can test out a few of the nursing courses including Fundamentals, some Med/Surg, and Maternity. These are Excelsior exams. Has anyone tested out of courses with these exams? Are they very difficult? Is there study material available?
