I am looking to travel nurse in January anyone ever work with or have input on American Mobile or other travel companies that have worked for them? Thank you!
Just remember that any bigger company that you go with (Cross Country, American Mobile, Nurse Choice, Nova Pro, Aureus, Onward Healthcare, Fastaff) you run the risk of being a name instead of a number. I had one company that couldn't find me in the system (my recruiter was gone) until I gave them my SS#. I had another company send my name tag to me in my first name, which I haven't gone by in 30+ years. Yeah, some recruiters really do care and make it a good assignment, but still you take some of the risk.
I would personally try one of the smaller to medium sized companies such as Freedom Healthcare, IPI Travel, Total Med Staffing, or Trinity Healthcare.
Bottom Line:
Don't accept an assignment if its not where you want to be. I have travelled with three different companies. The first one was Fast Staff..I could never reach my recruiter when things went wrong nor did he rarely call me back...days later. Second was American Mobile. My pets (who are my children) died while I was on assignment. I told the recruiter that I had, that I would be getting two more dogs eventually while on assignment. So, I got them ..months later..and knowing there were dogs in my complex in Manhattan, she called me up and chewed me out for having them because she forgot to put it in the contract. She wanted me to board them for a month. Now, I just got two rescues, who came to a new city, new owner..and then she wants me to board them? HA!..I told her I would be out of apartment in two days and my contract was termed. I don't get rid of my family like that. She then took a few back steps and said she would work it out with the apt complex. I told her, the Superintendent of the building knew they were there, the door man knew they were there so what was her prob. And the broker knew they were there. The super would actually drop by and give them treats once in a while. Anyway...I went with American Traveller, Jennifer Rayner as my recruiter and had her for the next five years. One company...one recruiter who knew me and respected my beliefs. That was the best experience I had. I am actually looking to maybe travel again. And, I have already placed a call to Jenny. She is my first preference. Good luck in your travels. !!
