:yelclap: HCMC nurses are unionized and their contract is being negotiated.
Is the environment stressful right now?
How is to work there?
:typing I am considering applying in the NICU.
Do nurses :flamesonb "eat their young?"
Are nurses helpful?
Anything would be helpful.

blackberry,
I used to work at HCMC (6 years ago). I'll talk to some of my friends that still work at HCMC and see if they can give you a current opinion on things.

Hi I work at HCMC. :rotfl: I am not sure what the environment is like on NICU but I work on MICU and I have been there for about 6 mo. I love it! However, it can be very stressful During those times the nurses RT's and MD's really work well as a team.
:chair: Not too much of eating the young going on re: the nurses. They have been very approachable and willing to teach new things.
We are still waiting for the negotiations to be finalized as far as the union goes. I have not heard many negative comments re: the matter.
I hope this was helpful.
Good luck with you job search,
LaVonne
LaVonne!
Thanks for the info. I am happy to hear the environment is good. I think I am going to complete an application later this week!

Good to hear that you are going to continue with the application process. I think the NICU still has positions available
Good Luck,

Anyone still employed by HCMC? How is it? How hard is it for a new grad(ADN) to get a job in an ICU?
