I posted this under general nursing student thread, but figured I would get more replies here. So anyone with me on this boat pls post I have so much to talk about especially with oreintation coming up in a few weeks!! So let's chat:monkeydance:
I did all my prereqs at Gordon, but I had a gpa of 3.9 and all prereqs completed including the regents, I know they go by a point system, so you get so many points for having prereqs done, points for regents, and then so much for your teas score. The teas test was not hard but I did not do that well b/c I brought a calculator but it was too advanced so make sure you have a very basic one, otherwise it was pretty easy. It covered common sense stuff.
I have all my pre-reqs done and my gpa is between 3.5 and a 3.66 depending on which elective they choose to count. i have also taken and passed the regents test and all of my classes were taken at a university of georgia system school. What do you guys think my chances are of being admitted into gordon?? I know its bad to only apply to one school but the only other option is gpc:o and i know their program is horrible. (i.e. low graduation rate 120 students starting and maybe 40 finishing:angryfire) Gordon college on the other hand has a great reputation among the nurses i have spoken to and people that start there finish the program although they say it is very hard(what nursing program isnt) If i dont get in by the spring then i am continuing to take pre-reqs for the BSN and i will apply to those programs as well. I dont want to do that b/c i know in Ga there is no difference between a new grad ASN and a new grad BSN. Besides I REALLY want to get started now:uhoh3: so ladies tell me what you think
Thanks,

I personally don't think you'll have a problem getting in. It sounds like you have everything you need. Yeah it's bad to only apply to one school but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!! All of your classes will transfer to Gordon that you've taken so don't worry about which electives they will accept just as long as you've taken the requied classes for the program you should be fine.
If for some reason you don't get in definetly try to apply again after you've taken some of the requried classes for your BSN. I think that's one of the reasons I got in. My GPA was no wear near as high as yours and at the time they didnt require us to take the TEAS or the NET. I was also coming from another program that I dropped out of ......guess which one?......GPC!!! Youre right...they were horrible when I went there 4.5 years ago. I dont know what's going on over there now! Good luck to you and congradulations in advance!!
One more thing 2bnurse4life#1 whats your schedule for the upcoming semester? and how many days are you at school and and how long do are the classes and clinicals?
Hey Mr.RN_Hopefull my schedule for this fall is fund of nursing and pharm I which totals to 8 credit hours, school days are M-Th 8-2 and 8-4 on some days, I don't know my clinical schedule we don't start that until Oct but hopefully they'll let us know at oreintation
Arent you excited!!! You have oreintation in a week!!!:balloons: I would give my left eye:trout: to be in your shoes(or heels lol)Please keep me posted on what they say in oeintation(i know im not spelling this right) you are my only link to the school and i want to stay in touch. If there is any other useful information that u could pass along to me i would greatly appreciate it!!! Or if you just wanna talk about nursing school i am all ears
Thanks

It's an eye opener! When I started working I was real nervous, scared, and not very confident. Now...sometiems I still get a little nervous and scared but I feel a lot more confident. Gordong did a great job teaching me and it helps that I'm at a facility that orients well. The first day off orientation was a little scary but there are always plenty of nurses around to answer questions and help. That's the key!! if your unsure of something ask...it doesnt matter how stupid you may think the question is...better safe than sorry.
I'm glad to be done with school. I want to go back for my BSN but I've gotten comfortable so I'm draggin my feet a little. Oh well..maybe next year!!! LOL!!

Hi
Its me again!! I have applied to the college and the nursing program. I take the teas test on the 28 of this month. I was wondering how everything is going with school and all. What is the feel you are getting from the program already and do the instructors seem approachable??? Also do you use all of those books in the first semester?
Thanks,

Hey sorry it took so long to reply. They are really keeping me busy. Good for you for turning in your application! The instructors are soooo sweet and helpful, we have had 3 tests so far and another comming on Monday:uhoh3: The doasage calc test was not that bad you had to have a 90 or better to pass, and I PASSED!!! You have a total of 3 attempts to try. I have only been in school for 2 weeks but it feels like 2 months. So far we have used a lot of the books we bought, not taking them to school, but just doing the 10 hour reading assisgnments per day that we have;)
Well hope that gives you some insight and good luck with your TEAS on Tuesday. Keep me posted.
