I'm a new grad RN on a GI and ENT med/surg unit. I was wondering if any of you knew any good books, quick references, or any other resources regarding gastroenterology diseases and patho, common meds, GI procedures, nursing interventions pre-op and post-op, etc. I am also looking for any "cheat sheet" types of materials that I can carry in my pocket or in my binder. Thank you!

Reading a book is great and all but I would try to talk to as many crohn's/col/gerd patients as possible. They can give you a wealth of experience and perspective.
I've had like every gi procedure done including bleeding scans and a intestinal resection at the illeum.

Hello. The SGNA has some excellent printed material that may be beneficial for you. These include policy procedure manual, core cirriculum, position statements, and patient information. The web site also has online information that you can read and download.
The policy procedure manual is a good resource esp for a new GI nurse.
The website gives you some information on the SGNA organization. You can read the mission and vision and decide if you would like to be a member. Being a member is a good thing.
