Anyone may PM me or email me anytime. Thanks!!
A "semi" Florida nurse here - I'm a full time traveller, but base out of FL - and generally take a contract somewhere back there every winter. Been in a lot of different areas there in 7 yrs of travelling, so if I can help, Empress, feel free to contact me also - [email protected]
Hello, Florida nurses!! I am a student who is interested in living in Florida after school...does anyone has any inside track on the quality of life in southeast Florida?
I was looking at- Ft. Lauderdale, Coral Springs, somewhere convenient to Miami. My husband would rather live in Orlando, but is the crime bad? Or was that Tampa? I guess Orlando is ok, but it seems so far from Miami, where I would like to spend some time when I get days off. I am from NYC, so I like to live in a diverse area with different cultures, foods, etc.
I remember visiting Boca Raton a few years back-- I had a relative who had a friend there...a doctor. It looked so beautiful, but not very diverse. Does any nurse on this board live aroung there??
Thanks for answering my questions!!Any info will be appreciated!
dreamon,
Tampa Bay has far more culture and diversity than Orlando. IMO. Orlando began as a swamp with a small florida town, only became the destination that it is b/c of Walt. There are people there from all over the world but they do not leave much of a mark. So much of Orlando is for the tourists, what culture that is there is basically artificial-man made to cater to the tourists. Tampa has a strong Cuban influence, check out Ybor City. Our Asian influence is strongly Vietnamese. The diversity is growing everyday. And, the drive to Miami isn't so bad, but unless you know people there, I'm not sure why you would go b/c Tampa has the big city, the suburbs, the country, and all the diversity you could want. Plus the suncoast beaches are some of the best in the world.
