Hello everyone! Any Filipino nurse working in Florida? I will be employed in Jacksonville hopefully by this year and would be glad if anyone will share their Florida experience with me and the rest of my friends who are also bound for Jacksonville. Thanks a lot!

hello....im living here in jax and working here too...jax is kind of like the philippines..lots of filipinos becuase of the naval base...its laid back but i love this place...traffic's a pain at times but once you get used to it youd be good... its unlike cali where everythings a paced pace.what hospital aye you gonna be working?...do you have family? this is a great place to raise one.

if youve got any more ? let me know.

my brother in law wants to apply here too...is applying in saipann bon easier?..did you still take the cg?...

keep in touch.

Im glad to hear that Jacksonville is a nice place to raise a family and we wont be feeling very much a stranger there since there are many Filipinos there too. Yes, Im bringing along my family and I have 2 preschool-aged sons and another one due next month. So its kinda reassuring to hear that Jacksonville is a great place as one poster in another thread said.

I will be working for a Baptist Health System hospital. And yes, its just easy to apply for Saipan BON. If your bro-n-law is interested for applying for any hosp in Jacksonville, maybe he would like to apply with the same agency that my nursing classmates and I applied with. They also have Shands as one of the employers. Just send me a pm if u want to know more about the agency and applying to Saipan BON ( Im licensed there, too). No, I never took the cg anymore. Just NCLEX and IELTS.

This Is Shiina From The Philippines.i'm Here In Florida, 30 Minutes From Daytona Beach, 1 Hour To Jacksonville, 1 Hour To Orlando.i Met Lots Of Filipinas Here Especially In Icu,pcu.

I'm Sure They Liked Here.i Said That Because I'm Not Working Yet, Still Have To Take My Nclex.there's A Filipino Community Here.

But To Tell Everyone, Florida Is A Nice Place To Work And Live Climate Wise.except For The Hurricane Sometimes.

Good Luck To Those Coming Here To Work.

wow!

this is just the right thread i need right now

if ever i'll pursue my application for a FL license, can you guys help me out with the application? i mean the process. like, i have to have my credentials evaluated first, right? then after that, do i/evaluating agency send the reult to the BON if im eligible? or is there anything else i need in order to qualify to take the nclex-rn exam for FL?

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

I'm working in Brandon in Tampa Bay area. My wife and I haven't decided yet if we'll settle here. So far, we had the first storm (Alberto) and it wasn't that bad at all.

I started in January this year and it was very busy because of the season. Now that summer has started it mellowed down a bit.

If you love beaches and going outdoor, then Florida is the right place for you.

Hi! I'm new here! I just want to ask those of you living in Florida if a pay of 21 USD per hour is okay? The agency where I inquired said that the 21USD they offer as a starting pay is sufficient in FL. You can even set aside some money for earnings apparently since housing is only 350 USD and less taxes. Is this true?

I also started within that range with the agency.

Your housing rate may be true if the agency will subsidize the rent or you might be sharing an apartment with others. If you search on the web, one bedroom apartment starts at $700-800.

Be also aware about this rate if they'll assigned you to Miami which was recently dubbed as the most expensive city in Florida.

yeljet and shiina thank you very much for the info! :icon_hug:

You're welcome Chopsy!

How about Orlando, this is also a good place to work with. But if you have the agency, i'm sure they will be the one to select a place for you.

Good luck!

well first of all is the full transcript proving you graduated and then the others are located in the website

licensure information for foreign educated applicants

the board of nursing requires you to have your nursing education evaluated by an approved credentialing agency for examination candidates. request the nursing or healthcare profession & science course-by-course credentials review. you are responsible for all fees charged by these services. applicants are urged to apply first to one of the three approved credential review services below and when that process is completed to apply for licensure in florida.

at the bottom of the webpage it say something like this......

applicants educated in the following countries will not be required to provide any further proof of english competency when applying for the examination.

and then there is the requirement for nclex

requirements for initial licensure - all applicants for initial licensure must submit proof of completion of a three (3) hour hiv/aids course, one (1) hour domestic violence course, and two (2) hours of medical errors course prior to licensure. all courses must be from a

florida-approved continuing education providernew_window.gif. applicants for initial licensure, upon submission of an affidavit showing good cause, shall be allowed six months from the date of licensure to complete this requirement and will be expected to submit proof of completion, if audited. good cause includes applicants who have been residing outside of florida or have been on active military duty.

I just want to know if anyone is familiar about this CE req.for initial licensure, i mean, how can i get this on line by viewing first and not right away paying just to view the courses.I opened this CE brokers, but they need us to subscribe first in order to view the courses.Any infos. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
