Any CSULA 2008 ELMN Applicants?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hey there - has anyone else been accepted to the CSULA 2008 ELMN program? Are they notifying everone by email? Just wondering who's going to be attending...

Hi there,

I was wondering where everyone is living right now, it seems like mostly LA. Ms. Hinoki mentioned most of the students were not from LA--I'm just curious. I've been in Santa Barbara for the last 8 yrs (went to UCSB), so it's not too far.

Congrats :yelclap: to everyone who got in, and those who will get in soon! See you in May!

Kathy Hinoki just told us today that your orientation will be May 3rd. We are preparing a welcoming coalition for you guys. :hrnsmlys: We are very excited to help you guys start off this program with a good base of support. She will probably schedule for us to come near the end of the orientation time so that we can take your questions.

Might I suggest that one of you email Prof. Hinoki and request that she supply your email address to the rest of the group. That way you all can start introductions and communications. Perhaps there might be some in your group who are relocating and may want to contact another classmate who may be doing the same so that you guys can find an apartment together. Three of our classmates did that. I think it makes for greater success because your roommate can also be your study partner. Also someone can start a Yahoo Group page. That makes communicating with the entire group lightening fast.

Just a bit of advice to get you all started. Can't wait to meet you all.:icon_hug:

Hi everyone,

THanks to RVT2RN2NP's brilliant suggestion, I went ahead and started a yahoo group for cohort 5 (after checking--didn't see one for the 2008 students).

You can join at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ELMN2008/

Enjoy the sunny weekend!

You can access the GET website to see the class schedule for the courses you will be taking in the summer, N320, N321, N328, and N362. The schedule looks to be exactly what we had, but bear in mind the need to be flexible as things can change last minute.:hngon: It has happened to us a couple of times. Some of the courses do not list an instructor but there will be one. They still don't have faculty listed for our upcoming summer courses either. When you register you will need to have the five digit class number for the particular sections. Good luck.

Hi Everyone, I also got in to the summer 08 ELMN program! Yay (whew)! I was so surprised to see this long thread of information. Thank you Cohort 4 for all the advice and support~

Cohort 5, Im so excited to meet everyone @ orientation. See you 5/3:wink2:

THanks for the heads up RV2RN!! I'll keep in mind that it may change, but it is incredibly helpful to have some framework.

a friend of mine said that whenever you make a payment at the cashier's office, make sure you make an extra copy of the receipt. she said that over time the ink will fade. i wonder does this apply to only payment made at the cashier's office or should i make copies of everything that i get from csula?

Yes it is partially true, but not bad. You may want to copy some of the receipts, but you do not need to copy everything. I believe that everything that you pay for through the cashiers office, directly or by mailing it in, is entered into the computer and is part of your student records that you can computer access and print from at any time.

Receipts that you would need that might fade would be ones from the bookstore since those purchases are not stored on line, and if you need to return anything or use the receipts for taxes--you would be up the creek. The other receipts may fade too.....but it is not a problem. The only receipt that I would make multiple copies of is your malpractice one, which cost us about 16$. You would want to do this because you might need to provide copies of it for your clinicals and it will just save you time later on. Hope this helps.

Hi, I noticed on their site that they may ask for an interview "if requested". Did you guys have to go through an interview process?

The interview process is their final decision process to pick candidates. They did ours as a group interview with six to eight applicants at a time. Good luck.

Hi there,

I'm in the cohort that just started this summer. For our cohort some people had scheduled, in-person interviews. I, however, did not. I received a phone call at my job when I was in the middle of helping a patient. I had no idea they were going to call, so it was a very "on the spot" type thing, with a lot of quick thinking involved, and everyone at work watching me! I'm not sure if everyone in our class had interviews or not. I interviewed in-person at other schools, and just from what I noticed, (I'm sure you know this), but be prepared and LOOK PROFESSIONAL! I remember seeing girls in low-cut tops and in sandals.

Good luck! :D

Hi, Everyone:

I'm really hoping to get in to the ELMN program but I wanted to ask those of you who are currently in the program to clarify something. When you finish the the first part of the program, do you get a BSN degree and then continue with the MSN portion? I just realized that I've always assumed this was the case, but I haven't asked. I'm going to call next week to find out, but if anyone can enlighten me before then I would greatly appreciate it! :thankya:
