Any CA NCLEX Retakers? How long for eligibility?

Published

Unfortunately, I failed my NCLEX last week. Still getting over it, but am determined to pass the 2nd time around, especially since I wasn't able to review how I wanted to the first time.

I have already sent in my re-application and retake fee. For those who have retaken the NCLEX in California, how long did it take you to receive your eligibility notice after submitting your reapplication fee? I know that there is a 45 day waiting period - do they wait until the 45 days is up to send you the new ATT? Or do they send you the new ATT before the 45 days is up, but not allow you to reschedule the exam until 45 days has passed since you failed the exam?

im wondering the same! i took mine last week too and im 100% sure i failed. but i cant re-register for a new test. how long after you tested were you able to re-register??

Rumor has 2.5 mos until you get ATT.

24hrs the latest! Pearson sends the results over w/in the hour after you have finished your exam. So if you can't register, it's safe to assume that you passed and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

woah 2.5 months...i'd like to believe that but in CA you can verify your license and after this long still no name posted :( PVT must be wrong...

Did you try and re-register? If it allowed you to completely register you failed....Sorry and like I said the latest is 24hrs even though it takes the BRN 2-3 weeks to send you a paper copy. That registration thing works.. My friend mailed her re-appl. the end of Feb. and she got her ATT the end of April. Also when you get your ATT it states on their the dates you are eligble and they take into account the 45 day rule. But 2-2.5 already passes that time frame.

yes i tried to re-register on pearsonvue but it gives me the pop up. so, a new application needs to be mailed to the BRN to re-test? i thought you just had to register again through pearsonvue and BRN would send a new ATT?

i guess i just need to wait the 2-3 weeks for the paper copy... but thank you for sharing the info on your friend's experience

StarJay, if you took it last week like me, how do you know for sure if you failed?? Besides the PVT that I'm assuming you did?

Ok I have to retake the exam . My appt. was set for 8am and l went to 120 problems and it shut me off. I went home with the hope that I passed at 11:30am

I waited an hour and tried to re-register and I went all the way through .(I cancelled the transaction). I had no pop-up stopping me at all... I waited until after 5 pm and I tried again... No popup and I can register all the wAy through again. At that time I was really depressed:( The next day I called Pearson and asked when is the BRN notified of results? He said w/in the hour of you finishing the test, results are electronically sent over. BRN is jUst SLOW!! So my point is if Pearson is not allowing you to pay for your re-registration and you get a pop-up stopping you, then you passed. I failed and it let me re-register completly.

Now if you failed BRN sends you your results w/in 2 weeks and you have to reapply again with a new application (reapply appl) send another $150 to the BRN to get your ATT and then pay another $200 to Pearson for the NCLEX exam itself. The only difference from a new appl. is that you don't have to repeat the fingerprints (w/in 1 year).

Personally, I would try to re-register one more time and if you get to the screen where it is asking you for your credit card information, you FAILED. If the process stops you before you reach that far then you PASSED!

Check the BRN Lic lookup for your name at least 5 days after exam date.

I hope this clarifies and helps.

Xane, I did the PVT trick and got the official letter yesterday.

2.5 months for the ATT even for a retake? I know the BRN had some problems w their new computer system which caused a delay in processing applications but it seems they've caught up.

I took my exam on March 24,2014 and I got my letter the following week.

Yeah well, they barely cashed my check on May 1, 2014 & I sent off my application on March 27. BRN said that they don't recognize you until they cash your check and it should take approx 6-8 weeks just to get to that step. (AGAIN). I figured I should be getting an ATT by the end of the month- first week in June. Then you got look for an available date.... and on and on.. We failed, move on and get prepared to pass on the next try because it's just a waiting game with the BRN and their is nothing we can do about it, so just use this time to study!!!
