Anybody had to repeat nursing school? I seem to be cursed the moment I begin school. I had to drop out years ago because of multiple family, financial and unmanageable stressors. Now, I am thinking about dropping out again due a marriage at the seams, money problems, and the unbelievable stress. I am thinking about giving up.
I know another girl who was unable to pass the NCLEX-RN so she took the NCLEX-PN and passed. She is working as an LPN BUT it is non-transferable to any other state. And this girl had plans to move to Mississippi right after graduation....
I understand why the LPN won't transfer since I believe most states require you to complete an LPN program to hold a license. Couldn't she retest for her RN through a different state though (or the guy you mentioned earlier as well)? There are a number of states that don't have the three test limit on the NCLEX and she could then endorse to whatever state she wishes to practice in once she passes.
I've never heard of a state that will not allow you to endorse because you maxed out your testing opportunities in their state before passing in another. The state I currently practice in has a lot of hoops for people who graduated years ago and are looking to take the NCLEX. In order to avoid going through all of that I tested in another state without those restrictions and then did licensure by endorsement. It's not quite the same, but I wasn't required to do any of the things I would have had to do if I'd wanted to take the NCLEX here when getting licensure by endorsement.

You make very good points about going to another state. I really don't know much about the whole licensure process so I have have no idea why they don't go to another. Excellent idea, though!
Try to stick it out, I returned to nursing school in my early 50's believe me it was hard, I had instructors just about tell me I was to old. I actually had one tell me I would never make it I am too slow, can't keep up etc, I struggled all through nursing school and wanted to quit numerous times, but I graduate and am working in a satelite clinic and I love it, going for my MSN, by the way I saw that CI about a year ago and she was falling all over me, the clinic I work at is a site they use for clinicals, I want to tell her off every time I see her. I could have let her drive me out of nursing school but I stuck it out and you should too.
Wow,what is a satelite clinic?
A satelite clinic, like the one I work in, is a free standing clinic that offers family health, primary care, OB=GYN, pediatrics, etc, it is a part of a major hospital here in NYC, I work doing initial assessments, injections, meds, EKG's etc this way when the MD, NP, PA see the patients all work-up's are done, it is a fun place to work and we serve an underserved populations, people without medical insurance, medicaid patients who cannot find a MD, etc, We also have a van that goes out into the community and does screening for B/P, breast cancer, prostate cancer, HIV testing, etc, I do a lot of teaching, and spend quality time with my clients. I make decent money and love my job,
