i was just wondering if any of you had any advice for us pre-nursing students. maybe you wish you had taken a different educational path towards your degree? maybe went for the bsn instead of adn or different department or specialty?
any regrets? anything you'd change?
just wanted to see if you had any helpful notes you can pass on to us rookies.
thanks! :)
congrats to you all for making it and becoming offical nurses! :yelclap:

My only regret is not taking all the opportunities to learn and try new skills while I was a student for fear of messing up. Take any opportunity you have to cath a patient, give a med, deal with a nursing problem, etc., while you are a student and do not fear messing up. This is the time to grab opportunities and gain confidence by experience. Good luck

I would say I wish I weren't so unsure of myself as a nursing student & would've asked more questions, shared more opinions, etc. Hmm...hopefully now I'll show more confidence as a new RN! :) Good luck to you.

The previous posters pretty much summed it up. Use your nursing school experiences to the max--there are learning situations all around you in and out of the classroom. I would just add to keep an open mind. You never know where your next opportunity is going to come from. As a student I thought only of being an OR nurse. Never got to do that though. Other things came my way. Look for the positive aspects in everything, even your negative experiences.
