hi everyone!! i am new to this site and so far, i love it!! i am about to enter a bsn program in august and beginning to get butterflies. i would like any advice on time management, stress relievers, or tricks to make the year smoother. i am looking forward to visiting with all of you!

:wlcmggrp: to all nurses. Here are just a few tips to reduce stress during nursing school. These are what helped me. I graduated December 15, 2007. :anpom:The first one was the best for me.

1. Have a great support system!! Mine included my family and a great bunch of friends. I have an awesome babysitter who I never would have made it without!! She would watch my kids at a drop of a hat, even if one was sick. (she would have the sick child away from the others) My husband took over most of the chores. You will also make some great friends in school who are an awesome support because they are going through the same stressful "stuff" you are.

2.Do not procrastinate!! The sooner you can finish a project the sooner you can stop stressing over it. I should say be detailed in you projects, that way you know you did the best you could, this will cause a little less stress.

3.Prepare well for your tests. If you are well prepared you have less stress.

4.Take care of yourself. Have some fun once in awhile!!!

5.Visit allnurses!! You get great support here from others who are also on the journey of becoming a nurse and those who have already made it.

Excellent advice above. Regarding preparation for tests... don't cram. (that goes for the Big One too ;) )

One of the best ways to decrease your stress level is to develop a physical activity program (exercise) and stick to it. I found that when I was fit, I could cope with anything better.

Nursing school tips:

1. Get things done as soon as you can don't procrastinate.

2. Find some study buddies and get together for group study sessions!

3. Invest in a time planner and write everything down, when assignments are due, meetings, clinicals, etc...it frees your brain up so you don't have to constantly think about it. You have it on paper!

4. Eat right and exercise.

5. Balance your life and go have some fun. You can't study all the time. Do something fun to recharge!

5. If you start to feel overwhelmed with homework, clinicals, etc...focus on just ONE thing you can do now.

You will do great! Just take it one day at a time and enjoy because it ends all to soon and you will miss the good times of nursing school!
