anxiety may be on red alert! help from kaplan users :)

Hi guys!!!

I've been reading your posts here and I'm really glad to have found this site :)

I'm doing Kaplan ALL THE WAY. No saunders, no mosby's nothing else. I just did my question trainer #7 and I got 67%. So far, my Q bank cummulative is 65%. Some say I'm ready...I don't know if I'm ready. Should I feel confident taking the exam next week 7/11? ( I know not to be over confident :nono:)

The problem with me is my anxiety..I worry too much! What should I do to calm my thoughts down? Thanks guys! you all rock! Congratulations to those who passed!! And those who are yet to take it, good luck and God bless us all!

I feel the same way re meds....that is the last area that I have been covering in the qbank...I am currently reading the med section in the coursebook from kaplan.

Dont worry! You're ready;)! I passed with 75 questions. This is what I did to prepare. I took Kaplan in class and did the online Q trianer and Qbank. My Qbank avg was 65% (I had a few that were well below the Kaplan "65% rule"...so take that Kaplan:lol2:). I also created Q bank exams that consisted of my weak areas. On question trainer 6 I scored a 66%. The day before my exam I took Q trainer 7 and my computer locked up at Q 230 and I said forget this I'm going to bed (So I have no idea how I did). Furthermore, I didn't go in depth with the kaplan book, (I've never been one to learn with text books).

I'm not bragging but this is what I wished had been posted when I was preparing and reading though these posts. I was so nervous 2 days before my boards that I had my family going crazy! Good luck! Relax!

P.S Remember priority and teaching!

Thanks for the encouraging words! My ave on the qbank is 64 and there are smoe tareas that are above and one is below.pharm....I am currently working on this!

A bit of advice...don't wake up and drink 2 cups of coffee before going in! I didn't feel too nervous until the day of; my boyfriend woke me up by saying "Aren't you excited?" I could have strangled him, I was fine until he started reminding me about what a big deal it was. I proceeded to look up last minute things (lab values) while drinking 2 cups of coffee. By the time I got in there I was shaking and the coffee magnified my anxiety. I got 75 questions, and I don't know yet if I passed. But most of the meds on the exam I hadn't even heard of before.

Good Luck! and don't drink a bunch of coffee.

How did you study the meds? Kaplan meds only?

I have similar scores to yours and take NCLEX on the 12th.

I just don't think that there is any way to know about all of the meds that NCLEX will ask you about. I hadn't ever heard about 95% of them, nor seen them used in the clinical setting. All I did to study was use Kaplan Review. Just study the major drug classes and try to remember some of the drug names in each. Pay close attention to the ones that have toxicity levels. Good luck to you, and try not to stress so much, especially after taking it (yeah right). But No one thinks they passed until they find out otherwise.
