Antelope valley fall 2015!

Published

Hello all! I been following this forum for awhile and I have always found a lot of good information on here... I thought I would start a forum to reach out to anyone who may be applying to AVC for fall of 2015. I know we may be finding out in May. How does everyone feel about this? I know that stats requirement may of helped people that already had the the class done a small advantage. IF I get in, I'm concerned about whether or not I should work or not. I'm full time at a mortgage company which I know I would definitely have to leave... Does anyone know how to get on with a medical based job without any CNA, or medical assist license? Or if chanes of getting a job in that field are even likely with no licensing.

Thanks so much. You have to do a background screening and they will give you a website to go to that gives the school access to see your results, you will need a physical examination including a required blood and urine test, drug screening with alcohol, I went today to a place called "sixcess" it's part of the list they provide you with, you need the required immunizations including the annual flu vaccine, you must have two of the three required Hep B immunizations or positive titer. I have to have my CPR card from American Heart Association but I don't know if the generic applicants are required to have that, you have to purchase and that's about it.

On the list that my physician has to fill out immunizations include MMR, TB, Varicella, Hep B vaccine series, Tdap or Td, and the flu vaccine. To be more specific.

Ok thanks! Not too bad then. How long do they give you to complete everything?

jdorsey, I spoke with the office today and they said letters should be going out sometime this week so be checking your mailbox!!!!

My bridge course starts on June 16th and my first deadline is for my background screening which has to be complete by May 15th and then everything else is due by June 4th. So for all the time consuming stuff they are giving us about a month. Goodluck to you and the original poster! I'm sure you two got in :) my fingers are crossed! And very cool that you have a back up plan!!!

Yay! The letters are supposed to be coming out this week?? That makes me so excited yet so nervous lol... Congrats to you bri_vn thanks for all your info!

Ok phew. Haha. COC gives you a month as well but they ask for more stuff like immunizations + titers and two TB tests. It's a lot to get in a month.

I wish you the best Bri_vn!!

Right?! Jdorsey, all the butterflies have started again.

You are quite welcome Jdorsey! I'm excited for the two of you. I am sure you guys made the cut! And it will be an amazing and humbling experience.

It is a lot! I'm worried I'm gonna miss a step! AVC requires two TB readings as well. But I think you just need the first reading (negative) and then you have a year to get your second reading if I'm reading this correctly.

Ah ok. Not too shabby then. COC has you do them back to back.

I'm sure we'll both be on pins and needles till we see that lovely envelope from AVC. And then back on pins and needles for the next two years :bookworm: lol

Haha yes I'm telling my friend to keep me away from the mailbox I'm gonna be checking multiple times a day :sarcastic:

I applied to the program September 2014 and took my teas in November, hoping I get in fall 2015 :) I am really nervous....
