Another Vent....

1.Just because you dont wanna keep your dad alive( family members words not mine) does not mean I can give morphine rtc without a md order!

2.I dont give a darn that your sister is an RN , im not taking orders from her or you, so the call you made to your sister was a waste of your time.

3. Please stop asking your dad "do you know who I am"? Um no he does Not , he is in the end stages of alzheimers !

4. No it is not a good idea for dad to sit in a w/c after taking a narc, he will fall which will put him at his 10 th fall this month!

whew . vent over

love my residents and will continue to do my best.

Sounds like you had a trying day. I don't have any advice, just a . Hope tomorrow is better.

Vent away. Sounds like this patient is lucky to have a nurse like you looking out for him. Good job.

I once had a MSW who told me to "Give her enough MSO4 to push her over"...the family was in the front room quibbling over her money...I told the MSW, not on your life lady, I'm not going to put my job in jeopardy because of your stupid request. I'm not in this business to kill people. Yes, I reported her.

Thanks for the replies. Family members get me at times. I just hope I didn't sound too insentive in my post. Trying to re orient a person with end stage alzheimers only upsets the residents and confuse them more and family member get their feelings hurt.

family members -- they either make our jobs easier OR A LOT HARDER.

--I'm just sayin..
