I was very interested in Chamberlain and it seems like a lot of you are in the program and enjoy it. However, I've found that the advisor I've been dealing with has been very "sales-pitchy" with me, and now I'm kind of turned off. The school is very expensive and I really want to take my time making an informed decision. He called me numerous times and sent me several emails staing I was "expected" to complete the financial forms within a certain time period. Um, sorry, but I'll fill them out when I'm ready, thanks. I'm guessing that they get a commission if they get you enroll by the next start date, because he's pushing me to enroll for the next start date this April. Maybe I don't care if I start in April, or may..or June. Maybe I'll start when I feel ready. He also kept making it sound like I was getting such a great deal because I got 80 transfer credits off the bat, but the website says right there that ALL RN's from ADN programs get 80 cr. transfered! Geeeshh...I haven't had this kind of experience with any other school, makes me not want to go there!!

A lot of the private schools such as Chamberlain are "for-profit" so it would not shock me to hear that they get a comission or something for getting you enrolled. I don't think I could justify spending 4-5x on my education when I can get one of equal or better at a state school that is not for-profit.

I dumped ISU when they showed absolutely no interest in answering my questions. Interestingly enough, some of the for profit schools seem to be pushy to get people's money, like your experience, and others, (another one seems to be WGU), don't seem to care about the prospective student at all. Both sides of the spectrum. Neither approach is conducive to getting business if it turns people off enough that they decide to go elsewhere.

Ugh. My admissions advisor was not like that at all. She was actually a great advocate in getting me credit for some classes (English and math) that were initially overlooked, too. If I were you, I'd tell that advisor to not be so pushy, or that I'd walk. Tell him that you'll contact him when YOU are ready, not vice-versa.

I had a similar experience at first, but I made it clear I'm "fact finding" and not looking to commit myself. One thing I can say is that my admissions adviser has been most helpful and answers all my questions. I've also applied to local universities that won't even return my phone calls/emails. Dropped like a hot potato after then got my admission fee! I'm still waiting for transfer credit evaluation. I think my nursing school dropped the ball somewhere!!!!!!! I've called Kent State University 4 times asking if they have received them..... nada, not one single call or email has been returned. Chamberlain is at least trying to track it down.
Good luck with you selection.

My Chamberlain advisor never pressured me or gave me a sales pitch. Sorry to hear of your negative experience.
