Angels posing as hospital patients?

Published

I've heard that angels sometimes pose as humans. I think I took care of one the past two days.

The patient was a Mexican man in his 40s. He had had a MVA 9 years ago and damaged his spine at the C-3 and had only limited movement of his hands. He spoke very little English. I suspect that he and and maybe his entire family might be angels, quietly living their humble lives as an example for humanity.

His wife came both days to sit at his side and perform all personal care for him quietly, without fanfare. She spoke only a few words of English. Her parents came for a visit, and also the patient's daughter who brought the grandson.

They sat quietly, needing very little, demanding nothing. She, at one point, requested a bedpan and some lubricant, obviously to perform his bowel program.

Everytime I entered the room I got chills up my spine, I really think I was in the presence of something holy. After the wife left the second day, I talked with the man. I told him that he had a wonderful wife. He told that he thanked God everyday for his good fortune. He exemplified true happiness, he was the most radiant person I've ever encountered.

I wonder if I met an angel, disguised as a human?

Great story! Thanks for sharing, I got goosebumps!

That reference is from Hebrews 13:2:

Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Sounds like you did a great job of it.

And there are sooooo many references to this experience in so many great religious works... of Budhism, Islam, Hinduism, verbal tales of Ojibwe....

Thank you for sharing your experience. It reflects so many pathways to God. Thank you. I truly believe it is opportunities like this that drew me into nursing. To see compassion and selflessness in action.

If any of my recent patients were angels they were the fallen kind. Either that or I was being tested- hope I passed!

So, your patient was obtuse ;)

if not obtuse, then, wait for it..............ACUTE!!:D

Angels are not necessarily those who mainstream society may think they are ... angels take the form of the stranger, the outsider, the other, the poor, those of color, those with alternative bodies and other physical defects .... The perspective from heaven is not the perspective of those of us on this earth.

Wow, I believe if most patients and their family are like that or even close to that, nursing wouldn't be so stressful.

Some years ago my mother and I were riding down an out-of-the-way street. We passed a woman in a wheelchair and my mom stopped, turned around, went back to offer the woman some help. The woman nicely declined. My mom said "I think that was an angel." I felt so anxious; something about the whole situation just felt strange. We went up the street to the store and came back about 5 minutes later. The woman was GONE. There was NOWHERE literally she could have gotten to in 5 minutes except further up the road. I believe to this day she was an angel testing our kindness to strangers.

Of course, my experience is not as cool as actually treating an angel, just an affirmative that I truly believe it is possible OP did. God bless.
