I believe there are around 3 million nurses in the US so there's a good chance that many people have had contact with a nurse at some time in their lives (if not as a patient, their family member, friend, etc.), who demonstrated ethics/honesty. I think the fact that we have a "Nurses Code of Ethics" carries some weight with the general public. I do think though that in terms of the survey it's all relative.

NURSING! For the 17th consecutive year, Nursing was named the most trusted profession by the annual Gallup poll. More than 4 of every 5 Americans rated the honesty and ethical standards of nurses as “very high” or “high.”
