Hi everyone! I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions, materials, or information regarding the ANCC FNP exam 2017. I have taken the exam twice and failed. I am currently 17 points away but continue to struggle. It has been a very frustrating journey so far. I am planning on taking the exam again April, 2017. Study materials I have used are Leik, Fitzgerald, APEA Q-bank, Flash cards, and practice exams. I feel like I have spent a lot of money on this exam and am hoping not to buy more materials if possible.
After taking the exam this past time the test is a blur. There was definitely a lot of professional practice information on the test but I struggle with this topic and am not sure how to tackle it. Any help would be so appreciated.
Thank you!

I just passed my AANP yesterday and I also thought the exam was easy. I did the Hollier review in July live and it was awesome. It was worth every penny. The 2.5days went so fast and I was not bored even for a minute. I bought her Qbank for 2 months and a couple of her predictor tests. I took 3 of her predictor tests....2 of which was required in my last semester of school and 1 a day before I took my exam to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses. I had issues with urology which I revised but did not have any question on that in my exam. But it helped my do my revision point on the day before my exam
I also bought the FitzGerald book as a requirement for last semester of NP school but it was boring. Never liked it. I just could not read the FitzGerald book continuously for an hour. Too much information that you really don't need and can't keep up at this time. maybe I will use it for my practice as a new grad but for the exams, it was not helpful to me.
I also bought the Leik book and that was the BOOMMMBBBB. I recommend this book to anybody taking the FNP exam. I actually had a a couple of similar questions----the same concept but just different wording. The only draw back with Leik is that she needs to update her book. She still has the JNC 7 for HTN. Otherwise, read her exam tips if you don't have time to read everything. She has all the information you need. I also got her apple app FNP Q&A and that has same questions as the book, just that it is in an app.
Lastly I bought 10 test on examedge at www.familynprep.com and did do 8 of them and I thought it was helpful to review but all in all LEIK IS THE KEY, Hollier NP review was also great

I am taking the exam for the first time in April as well. I know the format of the ANCC and the AANP is different. I purchased Board Vitals which is similar the ANCC. The questions are very challenging. The best advice that I got from one of the MD's was to pick 1 main book geared toward your specialty and do not overwhelm yourself with too many materials because the information will become watered down. I am using APEA for the Adult/Geriatric part of my specialty, Board Vitals for Questions, Barkley for the Acute Care portion. I am using the Current Med dx and tx book for in depth information.

Hi, I realize this post comes late. I passed the ANCC-FNP exam in June 2017. I utilized exam edge 5 test bank (helpful for format, a lot of grammar issues and pictures that were not clear), Fitzgerald iPhone app (great for clinical questions, not so much for non-clincial), APEA review course and qbank (great resource for clinical pearls for practice and great advice for test taking, Liek's book and app (good mix of clinical/non-clinical questions), fnp mastery (very thorough, over 800 practice questions, a lot of non-clinical practice questions) and a few other apps with question banks. I studied a total of 6 weeks, primarily focusing on weak areas. I hope this helps someone who will be taking the exam in the future.

Hey BKK10,
Am not sure if you are still following this thread. I passed the ANCC in May and it wasn't bad. I only used Leik and Fitzgerald. The exam had a lot of research and leadership. The Fitzgerald research review was sufficient for the boards. I hope all is well.
Hey KRN2017,
How did you do on the exam?

Hi did you just take it this June 2017? Any suggestions for studying? How often per day did you study for the 6 weeks? Thanks.
Yes, June 2nd. Studied 2-3 hours per day, mostly in 1 hour chunks. As outlined above, I studied from each resource. As for the exam, focus on research, leadership, therapeutic communication. I experienced a lot of questions in these categories.
Great thanks so much for the information super helpful. I have the Fitzgerald review book and took the course. I was going to use that and then based on your post the FNP Mastery seems good.
Yes, FNP mastery was very helpful. I can be accessed on a iPhone and desktop. Unfortunately, you can't prepare for everything, so developing a foundation is helpful. I did not have many "select all that apply" questions, but I did have a lot of picture questions. glad I can help and good luck!
What kinds of pictures did you have? Thanks so much it is great to find a resource who has taken them so recently. I appreciate your time and hope you don't mind the questions.
a variety, mostly skin related. that's about all i can say without being too specific
