The certification by portfolio process is now open. This is very exciting to me. Who else is going to apply?

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing! I'm a long ways off, but this is definetly something to look into for the future.

I am currently pending acceptance into an advanced emergency nurse practitioner program and am excited it will now have it's own credentials. All be it by portfolio after 2 years in the field, I think it is a great step for NP's who practice in emergency rooms. I hope the certification will continue to become a tested certification which I believe will strengthen use of NP's in this specialized area.

Which school offers that?
University of South Alabama, they have MSN or DNP for Advanced Emergency Nurse Practitioner. It is dual role program for the new adult/gerontological acute care np and family np. When done with the program you are eligible to sit for both certifications. So after working 2+ years in an ED as an NP. You would be AGAC-BC, FNP-BC, AND ENP-BC. Which also opens the door for practice in other areas besides emergency department later in your career if one so desires.
