Hi Everyone,
I just started A&P II on August 26th and wanted to start a Fall 2008 group. Any others out there who would like to join?
The 1st week just ended and we have basically completed Chapter 17 on the Endrocrine System. I have been studing like crazy this weekend to try and get all the hormones down.

Im looking forward to starting this class tommorow night after work is my first class 5 -10:15pm:barf02: I work 40 hrs so going once a week gives me more time to study during the week. I will have the same prof that I had for A&P1and I know how he teaches and his testing style Im going to work hard for that A.

Just started last week. We started with the respiratory system. I have already disected a sheep's lung and cut out the heart to save for later disection. I love the lab. I find it fascinating! I also have the same instructor from A&P I, and I got an A in that class. I am hoping for another A!!
I wish everyone lots of luck in their classes!!

Yeah! I'm so glad there are others taking the class as well. Thank you for responding.
Purpose,
Good luck with your first class coming up!!
TNMommy,
That's cool that you've already started disecting. For some reason, our class won't be doing dissecting this semester. They have our lecture and lab in the same classroom and the classroom has computers in them. Our instructor informed us that we will be doing everything via computer......which I'm not too sure about. I guess it will be kind of like taking a hybrid class (part in class for lectures then online for lab???)
Have a great Labor Day!
I have heard of others not disecting this year, too. I don't know if it is maybe more cost efficient, or if it has to do more with animal rights. I grew up in a family that deer hunted and still do. I guess if it were a dog that I would have to dissect, I probably would have a problem. Unless it was a yip yip dog.
Anyway.....I hope all have a great semester!

I just started this last week also. So far we've just been going over the endocrine system. No dissecting anything yet since our teacher likes to lecture for weeks before we get to touch anything in the lab. I took him for a&p 1 over the summer.

We already had a thread started for this..maybe the admins can merge them?
i'm so glad there is another thread. I will start posting on there. I tried looking for it before starting this one but am glad now that there is one.

The endocrine system can go ***** itself!!
Sorry for the intense anger on my part but my professor does a HORRIBLE job of explaining stuff. I had to maneuver google like a mad woman to find lecture notes from other colleges.
I'm evacuated and am disgusted at the thought of opening a book right now. My hotel room is either freezing or steaming, we have 3 dogs, a cat and 4 birds. I'm so ready to go home and go to my usual coffee shop to study.
I hope the other chapters are better.
The 4 year school I started at did a really great job of covering cardio in biology so the heart is going to be a cake walk for me but blood phys is new.
I have cardio notes & slides of blood pathways if anyone wants. PM me!
I hear you !!!
I too am having a hard time with the endocrine system:confused:. It is taking me a long time reading through the chapter trying to get a handle on all these crazy hormones and steriods and who knows what.
this is going to be a long week :zzzzz
Hey all,
I'm feeling your pain on the Endocrine System. If you go to the sticky section on this site - there is A&P spring 2008. A very nice, wonderful person put up her notes for the endocrine system and I have printed them. They are helping me tremendously! Definitely check this sticky out. Thank you to that person for posting her notes.
But of course this doesn't mean that I have them down at all just yet but i'm working on it...lol.
Here's where it's located. Scroll down a little ways and you will see the notes attached on there.

Good luck everyone!
Endocrine is going pretty easy for me, but mainly because my youngest had a brain tumor that had engulfed his pituitary gland and both had to be removed, so I have been soaked in the endocrine world for years! Attaching emotional punch to things definitely anchors them in one's memory. We are starting on blood today.
First quiz last Tuesday went well...I got a 90 on it. I HATE 10 question quizes though..even one wrong really lowers the grade!
