Anatomy of the Brain

Published

Our last lab practical is going to be over the muscles, the nervous system and the special senses. I have everything down, except for the anatomy of the brain. Any tips for those who have taken A&P I for learning the anatomy of the brain?

Please and Thank you!!

Unfortunately, I do not have any helpful tricks for remembering the anatomy of the brain. It just takes time to memorize it. I googled pictures of each part and would close my eyes and try to picture where everything was. It might be helpful to find an anatomy coloring book and focus specifically on the brain. If you have to know the physiology of each part, I would suggest making flashcards. But it's really just cut and dry memorization. Maybe someone else will have more helpful tips.

Thanks guys!

I don't know what makes it so hard and why it will not stick!! I learned the cranial nerves easy....but our professor told us last night that they won't be on the practical lol

Oh well...I will keep staring at it and trying to make it stick.

I uploaded pictures from the internet onto a Quizlet flashcard set to help me with all aspects of Anatomy. Helped a lot!

Depending on your timeline, look for the neurobiology coloring book. I will see if I can find the exact title. Helped me tons in A/P as well as my other degree; the book is quite reasonably priced. Also, I second repetition.

Edit: found these. I used the Pinel version, but I have seen the second one and it looked pretty good.

Sorry for the double post. My app is acting up I think.

The brain was easy for me. Muscles were hard as heck though, esp. the arm and hand. Too many layers. No real trick for any of it that I know other than memorizing. Are you going to have to identify on an actual human brain or a model? I had to do both, model is much simpler.

What I did (can not do this with a real brain of course) for all of my Lab was to take pictures of stuff in the classroom that I knew the instructor was going to use for the practical. I than came home and printed the pictures from my phone and labeled all the parts I would have to identify with numbers, and than had a separate piece of paper with the answers on it. Nothing beats learning than learning for the exact thing that you will be tested on.
