Anatomy & Physiology and Chem 1 at the same time?

Hello everyone,

I have a question about taking Anatomy & Physiology part 1 alongside Intro to Chemistry. I took Chemistry my first year of school, but unfortunately have to retake it. I'm in a bit of a time crunch to complete my classes on time, so I'm realizing that I may need to take A&P and Chemistry at the same time next semester. I am not especially strong in Chemistry, but I believe that I could be if I truly dedicate enough time to it or seek out help from a tutor.

I was wondering if anyone has done this and if you recommend doing so. If so, any tips or advice that you may have would be greatly appreciated! A friend of mine did this and claims it was the worst experience, so of course I'm a bit curious to see what others think.

Thanks in advance :)

I am doing that now. The idea of it was kind of daunting but it isn't that bad. I did not have any chem background though so that will help you I am sure. I think that if you can prioritize well it shouldn't be to much of a problem. For some A & P it has actually helped because I was learning about the concepts we were talking about in Chem also.

I did it and it wasn't so bad. Chemistry is more analytical thinking and A and P is more memorization. It's definitely doable and possible to make As if you put forth the effort.

I am not great at chem either but I pulled it off.

Yes do it! And get used to it!! It will help prepare you for nursing classes. I had pathophys, medsurg1, and pharm 1 together this semester. I've seen a lot of questions about the uncertainty of taking 2 sciences at once but you know what it really helps for the day when you're going to be preparing for clinical, studying for a kaplan/hesi exam, and patho and pharm finals at once. (not to mention the other gen eds! I have the gen ed class from hell this semester:wacky:)

Do it! I'm taking A&P II with organic biochem (which is absolutely terrible when the last chem class you've taken is in hs and you're expected to have basic knowledge in organic chemistry) and it's tough but not because I'm taking the too sciences together. Chem and bios are very different in the way you study as well since chem is more application of stuff you learned on exams

Thanks y'all! I just needed that little bit of reassurance that I can handle this.. So I'm all signed up and hoping things go well :)

I took about 18 hours of my science pre-reqs during Summer sessions. Now mind you, Summer semester was split into 2 sessions for me. That means my classes were crammed into 5-8 weeks, AND I was taking A&P, microbio, and chem altogether. It's not impossible.
