Hello! I have been looking for a thread for ARC for Spring 2016 and have yet to see one so decided to start one myself! Anyone applying for ARC's ADN program for Spring 2016 that want to share any questions or concerns while we wait for acceptance letters? This is my 5th time applying and am really hoping this is my lucky semester!

Specializes in Emergency Department.
I still haven't gotten anything :( if they were gonna send out rejection letters why do them in batches, not all at once. It seems like everyone who got a spot got their letter whether it was an actual spot or as an alternative yesterday, but its killing me waiting for the email that says not accepted :(

Check your losrios email as well. Also, my sense is that they send out acceptance and alternate letters in batches too. They make up the list of candidates and share it with SCC as well. They knew I'd been accepted to SCC's program so they wanted me to get back to them with my program choice. I doubt they know who was selected for what program until after they've got their selectee/alternate list for a given Semester.

You'll have a very good experience at SCC. I went there and know the majority of the instructors well, and have met all of the current instructors. They want their students to succeed. SCC's program is tough by any standard but it's very doable.

Do you remember what hospitals you were doing the clinical hours? Who would you recommend from the teachers? like 1st semester? ...4th?

I just checked enrollment numbers on eservices and it looks like there are 44 spots and 20 waitlist (alternates?). It would appear that it is close to a 1/2 chance of being selected rather than 1/3 chance. Those odds are pretty good.

Do they usually send all the acceptance letters/emails all together and then later the rejection letters/emails?

Honestly, I just don't know. They've been inconsistent with their processes. What has been consistent is that acceptance and alternate emails are sent first and before the 8 weeks deadline. Anything else is just speculation. I wish I had more concrete answers. I'm really sorry.

SCC also offers ADN, however they changed their filing process to only once per year. That filing period will be this February and will be for the Fall '16 and Spring '17 classes. ARC still has 2 filing periods every year for their ADN program.

If you weren't selected for a program for this Spring, reapply everywhere next Semester and don't give up! Once the class roster has been finalized, they'll do some statistical stuff and publish the point level that got people into the random selection pool. Remember, generally, once you're in the pool, your chances of being selected no longer depend upon your points unless you've got such a high point total that they must select you... if they're selecting a number of highest points earned.

For those of you that were selected, congratulations!!! You're in for a whirlwind of activity for the next 2-3 YEARS as you go through all the stuff necessary to start the program, go through it, graduate, and find your first jobs. Pay attention to all the stuff they require you do because you can still be disqualified from the program for failure to turn stuff in. In a way, nursing school for you starts NOW because they're going to want to know you can follow directions.

Yes, SCC admits both semesters but only one application period in the Spring of each year. So I was saying that only ARC has an open application in the fall, locally.

I'm not so sure that an extremely high scoring candidate has any additional advantage over others qualified in the 1/3 pool. It appears there are candidates in this board discussion that scored as high as 85 (which is top 2%) and still did not get an acceptance email this round. This leads me to believe that it is truly random lottery of the top third.

Where did you find these numbers?

Where did you find these numbers?

Go to ARC Eservices enrollment. Search for classes. Look up Nurse 400. There you will be able to see the numbers of seats available and the number of waitlist.

Any alternates been selected? I am 5 and on the edge of my seat if 5 others will decline.

I am number 7 on the alternate list and am worried about the same thing...if I gave you my e-mail would you mind keeping in contact with me when/if you hear anything? I would really appreciate that! [email protected]

The statistics for program applicants is now available on ARC's nursing web page! Looks like there were 260 qualified applicants with 122 scoring at least 70 were placed in the lottery pool.

I guess it really is true that its random lottery selection, especially that someone on here had 85 points and didn't get selected...

Congrats again to everyone that got in and hugs of encouragement for those that did not. I can't believe school is a little over a week away!

Has everyone gotten their vaccines? Stethoscopes? Books? Memorized everything? Am I the only one that is as excited as I am terrified?!
