American River College fall 2015

Published

Anyone applying for Fall 2015 want to share info? Aka share nervous concerns until we find out in a few weeks? ;-p

So what is Chem2B? Is that an organic chem? Are you taking it so you can apply to a CSU?

I can not believe no one has heard yet!!!!

Oops...it's inorganic? I think? And yes, just to further prepare for my BS.

Have you guys taken the CNA class in ARC yet or the medical dosage calculations? Both are recommended before you start the RN program because they help prepare you. I have taken the CNA course and the Home Health Aide, but will take the medical dosage calculations in the fall online if I don't get into the RN program. The CNA course is only 8 weeks, and the HHA is 2 weeks long. Also, i'm applying to Carrington college to do the LVN program and from there to do the LVN-RN bridge in ARC or SCC. It's only 1 year long and will start this July. I hate sitting around waiting for my life to start :(

No Raine...never heard that recommendation before but I am about to go look into it. Can you work as a CNA after the class? I really want to be working in the field!!! I just hope we all get in! Not very probable but I'm trying to have faith. :)

Yes, of course you can work. We had an 8 week class, the first week and a half or so were class time and a couple of labs, and then the rest of the time we had clinicals which were 3 times a week for 6 hours. Taught me a lot, including taking vitals, patient care, nutrition, and more. After the class ended, 2 weeks later we took a state exam and I got my certificate in the mail 3 weeks later. The home health portion is worth doing too because it's only two weeks, one of which is clinicals in the same place as the CNA class.

I can't find it!! Do you know what section it is under???

It's under Nursing- Nurse 100 for CNA and Nurse 101 for HHA.

Already full but Sierra has one also!

If you can take it somewhere, do it. It really helped me be less anxious about the nursing program because I know a lot of basics now. Even something as simple as being more comfortable interacting with patients while providing care was a great thing to gain from the CNA course for me :) Every little bit helps right? :)

I got my acceptance letter from ARC. I got in for Fall 2015!
